Hello to all the members here at TGO I have been hanging around all week reading threads waiting for my account to be activated. I have read some intresting opinions on several tpoics this week and learned some facts I did not know before. I would also like to know if anyone knows a local source where I can purchase a good quality no gunsmithing required scope mount for a 98 german Mauser?

Welcome!

I believe the high-mount base I got for my '94 Swedish Mauser is a Williams, but it does require gunsmithing as there are no screw holes provided in the '94 Swede (or '38 Swede) receiver. My stock had to be relieved to clear the mount also. I don't know if a K98 is different.

Please lose the colored text - not enough contrast to allow easy reading.

PS - see http://www.gunaccessories.com/MilitaryScopeMounts/Mauser/index.asp

Howdy and Welcome to TGO

I can not remember which company but I believe there is one that uses the rear sight as a scope mounting point using pistol scopes otherwise I think a gunsmith would be needed.

Welcome. I've already learned something from you. I had no idea there were scopes mounts for Mausers that didn't require drilling, tapping, and forging the bolt handle.
