It looks like an M38 stock to me but hard to tell. I had a 91/59 I got from another board member here and I have to say it was beautiful! nice blueing, good bore, M44 stock with nice blonde wood wish I had that one back. I may jump back on the Mosin craze again sooner or later since the ammo is so dirt cheap. I'm 6'1 150 and they really beat on my shoulder though.

Do yourself a favor and get a Finnish Mosin (M-39): The Finns took a good rifle and made it great.

You can get some of them shipped to your door no FFL perfectly legal, as all M-39s were built off of Russian recievers, some of the recievers were built pre-1898 and are antiques (ie, not "firearms") under the law!

The M39 utilizes Russian made bolts/recievers and other minor parts, the Finns built their own stocks, sights, and barrell... all significantly better than the Russian original.

Tennessee Gun Country in Clarksville has a case of them for $115 I believe.
