Yup and all the SEC hats are made there too. Burns me up.

Whatever you do never check the tag on an American Flag to see where it's made. Seriously. I'm not kidding, cause if you do 9 times out of 10 it will make you dizzy then mad.

You couldn't afford a hat made in the US no more then them being able to afford to give one away made here.

Not their fault. It's ours for wanting 20hr w\ benefits to do something a monkey could be trained to do...

Nothing wrong with me wanting $20.00 an hour to do the job of a monkey. The problem is everybody wanting that much money!

Labor is high but I'm sure taxes, land costs, environmental regs and insurance plays into it as well.

I went out a couple of months ago and bought a new pair of RedWing boots; they tend to last me a long time.

I got home and was horrified to see they were made in China.

I had already threw away the boxes and could not return them.

I was wanting a pair of boots again so I went looking.

Wolverine is what I like. My old pair was made in the USA and the new ones are made in China. I mink olded the old ones (20 years old and used almost up) and put some made in China insoles in them. I wanted the new boots for rough stuff anyway.

Also a couple of years ago after my "made in China" microwave caught on fire after 1 year and 3 days I got the last new "made in the USA" microwave on the planet and it's 3 years old and going strong. It was funny I walked in the local appliance store and just started popping doors till I found one made here. The lady thought I was nuts but told me that was probably the last one made here.

Strick's right but another way of looking at it is that it is our fault for wanting soo much cheap stuff. If it is made in America, it has to either cost more or they have to pay the people less, our choice.

The kicker is, if we didn't buy so much stuff just because it was cheap and made in China, we'd probably have a stronger economy and the salaries would take care of themselves.

I bought a pair of Georgia boots because I made the assumption they were made in Georgia, I don't recall where they were made for certain, but it wasn't Georgia.

My current New Balance cross-trainers are "Made In USA of Imported Materials."

Can anyone find me a 100% USA sneaker in mostly-white color scheme, size 11, wide?

Folks, whether we like it or not, the world has become a global market place, and it isn't ever going back to what it used to be. I don't like it, but that's the reality of the situation. So, I will just buy quality stuff, and not worry about where it comes from.

Unfortunately, I know you are right.

from what I understand no. not all of new balance shoes are usa assembled. BTW I bought a set of there usa made shoes about a month ago, cost a little more but better for our country in hte long run. like credit cars. sounds good now to buy without paying but it catches up to ya, same with buying chinese stuff, wait, I want a job here in the us, there aren't any jobs left here:rolleyes:

It's absurd to think one could buy only US made products anymore; in many cases, they simply don't exist, or if they do, cost too much in relation to income, or cost too much investment in time to find.

Even food. Try to find "American" sardines, herring, smoked oysters, etc, just to mention a few items in my pantry.

I find it interesting that 75% of Americans have been dependent on one particular foreign product for a couple hundred years: yep, coffee. Throw in another foreign product, tea, and you cover maybe 90% of us.

Oh yeah, do I need to mention oil?

I thought not.

Jesus, let's not delude ourselves, guys. 90% of the stuff you buy is going to be imported and 90% of THAT stuff is going to be made in China. It won't necessarily be terrible quality (my chinese iPod is pretty solid, really), nor will American products necessarily be great quality (my Spring Hill, TN Saturn car has enough problems to make up for all my Chinese possessions).

The fact of the matter is, yes, we are sending tons of money out of the country to pay cheap laborers, but we have to force a paradigm shift to let these American companies know that we consider such outsourcing an unethical business practice and hold them accountable for its detriment to our economy. Also, those of us who work in the labor industry, running the machines to make American flags and putting the lids on the cans of sardines, etc. have to be prepared to work for reasonable wages for LABOR and not form unions to wage war for $20-$50 wages.

My iMac says "Assembled in China, other items as marked thereon. Printed in China."

Funny thing happened a few years ago. A friend of mine, who's wife is from China, asked me to assemble some bar stools he bought. When I opened up one of the boxes, the instructions were in Chinese! I told him he should have his wife assemble them!

Send the hat back and ask for a refund of your membership dues.

Oh horse pucky.

I carry a multi-tool I got when I first joined NRA. Yep, it's made in China.

Carry a gun made in Croatia.

Budweiser and Miller aren't even American owned.

Pick battles that could mean something.

I see you're not a NRA member. I guess it's because they give out Chinese hats? You don't contribute to TGO either, though, so I guess that's just the way you roll.

Oh yeah, throw away that 'puter you're using.

Trust me, I'm all for supporting the homeland, but to what end? American Made products are a thing of the past. Granted there are a good many domestic products, but how many of those use foreign parts or materials? I'd say most. Just because it's made in China doesn't mean it's crap, just like something made in the USA isn't necessarily good. So really it's kinda silly and pointless to be shocked that things aren't made in the USA anymore and even more silly and pointless to say that you're going to stop buying from X or stop being a member of Y just because of foreign products. Inevitability's a bitch.

The only thing that I can hope for is huge incoming tariffs and all around import duties to approach a level field. (Yeah, I know. "Good luck with that!") They have to balance something like that carefully because it could instigate war.
