Mike,

Sorry about you not being around them anymore, but as much as me and the Family love Tennessee, we are more than likely moving back to Florida towards the end of this year. We miss the weather and I am fortunate enough to have a job which allows me to live wherever we want. We will be taking our Grandchildren with us, believe me when I say I know how much you get attached to them!

Sorry, Mike. I don't have any grand-kids ... yet. But I did have a great grand-dad.

Never met Dad's father, as he passed away before I was born. My mother's dad ... well, he's been gone since '77. Took me fishin' and took me huntin' ... heck, took me everywhere he went, from as far back as I can remember until I got old enough to drive. Spent a lot of time with him, even through high school and college. Spent a lot of time with him, even after I got married. Loved him more than I can say, and still miss him even tonight.

There's a reason that a Grandfather is called "GRAND." Sounds like you fit that bill really well.

Nothing I can say to make you feel any better, but, brother, I know what missing someone's like. We'll be keeping you in our thoughts, and in our prayers, that the good Lord will give you the wisdom and strength to get through this.

My only blood related grandfather died in 96 when I was 27. He was out of his mind with Alzheimer's and didn't get to see me buy my first house that same year. Only relative I really loved. Everyone else, a distant second. It angers me to this day whenever I think about him because he didn't get to meet my wife that I married the next year. We men pass on too soon and I can only say that if you can move your occupation south, DO IT! Job be damned. The boys need your instruction. I consider myself a new friend to you, and as such, if I'm still a member here in two or so years, I don't want to see you around here. I'm sure you understand exactly what I mean.

I thought tonight of all nights the "Adult Beverage" thread would have come into play.

I can identify with alot of the younger members posting in this thread.

My grandfather was the best man I ever knew. Every day I come across situations where I have directly used advice that he gave me. Every day I try to be the kind of man he thought that I could be...if I could be half the man that he was I'll still be doing better than 90% of the men I've met in the world today. I lost him on 9-18-01. It pains me to know that he survived the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and lived to see the towers fall, but I definitely know what you mean Jack about milestones in my life that I wish he could have been part of.

Mike...I've already said a prayer for you and your grandsons...but know that no boy ever forgets his grandfather, no matter how far the distance. I sense many a road trip in your future. Hey, maybe if you play your cards right they can come live with you when they go to UT-Knoxville for college

My condolences.

My grand daughter has been my shadow for her 6 years. If I go to the "gun shop" she goes with me, she helps me re-load and clean brass, and keeps the shop swept and clean.

Don't know how I would survive her moving off like that, about killed me when she and her Mom got their own place. We get her each weekend and I find myself measuring time in kid here, kid free.

Just saw the thread Mike. Bad stuff. By all means go shoot at something tomorrow. If I was close I'd volunteer the ammo.

You should definitely be thinking about the webcam thing.

Hang in there brother.

I am so sorry . . . wish I could say something that could help.

Hang in there. My daughter graduates from MTSU in May and is determined to leave the area, and she is the only child I have left near. I don't know what it will be like to live for phone calls and two visits a year . . .

I have no problem with my daughter leaving. She is grown, but kids are special, they are only children once. It hurts the most to be missing out on that.

The "sucks" part of this whole thing will never go away.

I gotcha . . . I don't have grandkids yet, so I have yet to feel that pain

@#$%. Let's go get a beer soon.

Making a Little Kings run tomorrow.

We do need to go for a beer sometime when I get back.

Everyone thanks for the kind thoughts. It still sucks more than I even imagined it would, but it is easing up some. Going home this weekend ought to help get my mind off of it a bit.
