my heart is breaking

My daughter and her two sons are moving back to Florida. Tonight is the night. Probably within 20 minutes they will leave.

It is all I can do to not start bawling. I will lose the battle before the night is over I am sure.

I don't know what I am going to do without them boys here with us.

Don't sell yourself short, Mike. Those boys don't know what they will do without their "good-time grandpa" either.

Jeez Mike, maybe there's many trips to Florida in your future, my friend.

I know you will miss them greatly...so sorry, to hear of it brother.

:hiding:

Every chance...tell them how much you love, and miss them.

I really hate to hear that. Hang in there Mike.

You are the best influence those boys have ever had and it will not end with distance. I imagine you've made a positive impression on them that they'll not soon forget, or ever. No boy forgets what his grandaddy teaches.

You might not see them everyday but you'll still be part of their lives and they your's.

Might need to send a webcam down to FLA. :hiding:

A good friend of mine just had his daughter and son in law (he is in the service) move to Hawaii with his grandson. He is going there to see them in the spring and tickets are $2700.

He said that they bought a webcam to use so that they can see each other and said that helped him tremendously.

Sorry for your heartache. I'll say a prayer for you.

Mike,

These guys as well as Oh Shoot and Bronker sent me a PM stating they would take up a collection for a Greyhound ticket to Florida and 50.00 bucks if you don't come back.

I don't know why they appeared so happy?

Seriously, I don't have grand kids yet but seeing how my folks and the wife's act around mine, I have a bit of perspective. You should plan lots of trips. Also feel free to not pick up your clothes and eat anything in the fridge you wish.

they have been gone a little over an hour finally. Man this has been the worst day of my life. Spent the whole day here at home with the kids. Any other time this would have been a Top 5 day. Been a dark cloud hanging around though. I could see it in the boys, even the 2.5 year old knew something was up.

So after about three hours past when they should have been gone they finally left. Get 100 yards down the drive and turn around. The youngest is crying to see grandma tell her he loves her. I am telling you, that crap put me over the edge.

So they leave again, come back. Door ajar light is on. The back of the van is overpacked and it was not close to shutting. I repacked it for them. Got the door shut. Then it is goodbyes again. Finally I told the daughter to get the van in gear and go already. Oldest grandson was a rock. I am so proud of him. He acted more adult than anyone. there is no one on the face of the earth I care about more than him.

Winger thanks, that did cheeer me up. Thanks everyone for the very kind replies.

I am gonna go shoot tomorrow. Don't care if it sleets or rains or is cold as the North Pole. I am going.

Wish I was closer, Mike. I'd like to have a cup of coffee in the morning and then go blast some stuff to 'vent'.

I'm fortunate to still have both my grandfathers alive. One is 88, and lives 15 miles away. The other is 84 and lives in PA.

The local one has been involved in my life as much as he could possibly be. He's one of my best friends. The other, I saw recently for only the second time in 25 years. He's never met my wife or my kids. I don't hold anything against him, but he's a distant follower to my PaPa.

So, no matter what, we always remember our "good-time grandpas".

You hang in there.
