Winchester White Box 45 ACP Duds

Went to the range today and shot 150rds of 45ACP. 100rds of WWB 230g FMJ and 50rds of Speer Lawman 230g TMJ. I had 2 duds in the 100rd WWB. I ejected each round and the primer had been struck but nothing happened. So here is my question, does that happen alot with WWB ammo? I have shot hundreds of rounds of WWB 9mm and all were flawless. Also is it safe to just throw the duds into the spent brass pile, I am sure it is, but still makes me feel a bit uneasy sometimes. By the way Speer Lawman ammo was good!

you might try running it through again, sometimes they go bang on the second try.

I have shot 1000's of rounds of wwb without any issues.

I've shot at least 700 rounds of WWB .45's and never had an issue.

Was any corrosion visible on the rounds?

Call Winchester with lot # and see what they will do.

I'm going to bet your firing pin spring is on the verge of being too weak, or more likely, a headspace problem. Some brands of primers are a touch harder to ignite than others. Try them again, maybe in a different gun. I'm betting the ammo is good, but anything is possible.

I have never had an issue with WWB. I did have two Blazer 9mm not fire out of my Taurus 905 but I put them in my Glock and they fired. I ran Gold Dot through the Taurus to test, then I took the Taurus back to the range and ran WWB through it like a champ.

Also the Blazer wouldn't come out of the cylinder without a bit of prying (the 905 is a revolver, for those that don't know) but Gold Dot and WWB slide right out.

Just saying sometimes guns don't like some ammo, but other guns don't mind the same ammo a bit.

I had 3 squib rounds of Winchester .223. They all stuck in the barrel of my AR. Must have been a bad lot, I changed boxes and no problems since.

WWB is good ammo for what is is designed to be: full power,accurate and cheaper{NOT CHEAP} practice ammo. In this area, it is excellent. I have fired tens of thousands of rounds of this stuff, and only about 3 weeks ago, came across my first bad round, a .38+P 130 gr. load. The round would not allow cylinder rotation in the now 3 other revolvers tested. ONE round,out of thousands,and years of shooting. I currently have my Glock 21 loaded with WWB 230 JHP's clocking out at about 880 fps. I have however, here and other places, read about bad rounds with WWB before. I found a thread on another forum from 2006, with people talking about it.

I just bought another box today. So, yes,it is more likely the ammo rathr than gun. But, I trust it enough to carry it. Just my two cents.

I wish I had kept the rounds or tried to fire them again, that would solve the gun vs ammo issue. I had no idea they would possibly fire on a second try. I dont think its the gun it only has a little over 2k rounds thru it. But I do have a new firing pin spring so if it happens in the future I can try some things ie 2nd try, change firing pin spring and try round again, etc

I've had trouble with the cases splitting on some Winchester .22 WMR ammunition in the silver box.

Contacted Winchester, and they said "send it back" which I did.

Sent them 2 partial boxes, and they sent me back 4 boxes in return.

They will make it right, only if you let them know about it though.

Hi:

I have had FTFs with Winchester White Box .45acp 230gr FMJ (Wal-Mart) in a S&W M25-2.

FTFs fired ok in a different Revolver. Hard primers?
