I'm watching "Run Silent, Run Deep" with Gable and Lancaster. REALLY dig this one! Kinda like "Crimson Tide" with two opposing captains on one sub. So the question is, "What would you swabbies recommend I rent for my FIL?"

OHHH, what they did to those bodies!

Crimson Tide, Midway, Run Silent Run Deep, U-571, Das Boot. Those are some my favorite squid movies.

"In Harms Way". Terrific WWII Navy flick with John Wayne and Kirk Douglas.

John Ford's classic, "They Were Expendable", again with John Wayne.

Gotta go with Midway and Das Boot.

Das Boot is like 5.5 hours long. depending which version you watch.

Midway has tons of stars in it

Tora, Tora, Tora is the most accurate account of Pearl Harbor; but I bet he has seen that one.

Crimson Tide is great entertainment. But in real life would have been real short. :hiding:

U-571 and The Hunt for Red October are good.

Flight of the Intruder - Got to love the scenes in P.I.

The Final Countdown - Just a wild idea of a modern carrier going back in time to the day before the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Mister Roberts - I think every sailor has had a captain that was like this.

Tora Tora Tora - Awesome classic

Midway - Another great one

Men of Honor - I met Carl Brascher when I was stationed at Little Creek. A great man.

I can't believe no one mentioned Top Gun...... we all know back in the 80's that it was cool as hell!!

Navy SEALs

Charlie Sheen and Bill Paxton at their best. I bet all SEALs play golf like asshats and do live fire exercises around civilians.
