Transfer Problem

Okay, I need some expert opinions on a unique problem that has come up. A friend of mine ordered a pistol out of state and had it shipped to an FFL here in TN this past Saturday. Tuesday he was admitted to the hospital and there is a strong possibility he won't get well enough to get to the shop to complete the transfer. Is there any provision in the law to allow me to pick the weapon up for him, such as with a Durable Power of Attorney. The dealer stated that if he was to pass away then his estate could pick it up (Executor of his Will I guess?)

Then, is he ever going to be well enough to enjoy the purchase? It sounds from your description that he's in very bad condition. I would just have the shop send it back and get a refund for him.
