There is supposedly a new venue in M'boro off of Middle Tennessee Blvd near the old Samsonite plant. The point made about people taking 840 (not 870) coming from the east is true...it would save them time. Not to mention because the venue is new (I think there have been a couple gun shows there) it might be cheap! The Nashville area probably does make the most sense, it is the middle of the state and the largest concentration of population.

I'll drive where ever the expo is being held at. Chatt or Boro are my votes.

That building is actually an old warehouse that has been for sale for years. It was rented for three days for around $25k. Now I'm all for Murfreesboro, but I'm thinking we could do cheaper.

But hell, I'll be there wherever it is.

If you are talking about where the gun show was located last month than that's a lousy building...$25 would be a more appropriate to what it's worth than $25,000! ;)

Yep, same building. You've got to sell a lot of tickets to overcome that kinda overhead.

Well I'm in Nashville so naturally I would like to see one held somewhere in middle TN but that's not fair to the Memphis, East TN and Chattanooga members.

Have you guys thought about a floating location so that everyone in the state has an opportunity to attend without it being such a big commitment to try to attend? Have one in each major area of the state every quarter.

I like the floating option;) Especially if you were going to be doing several in a years span. West, central and east. I could make it to Chattanooga but I would'nt go to Nashville. However, if three were done Knoxville may be an option.

I live in the Northwest corner of the state. I would definately go to Memphis, Jackson and Nashville no problem. And maybe even a little further east but not much further to attend. Unless some of the other members in the area wanted to car pool and split the gas and driving but that is another topic.

I think that a floating venue is the best idea as well. Chattanooga is in great need of a real gun show but I understand that we are not centrally located for most of TN. I would travel to Knoxville, but probably not Nashville. If you rotated through the 4 major cities I would think that most members could attend at least half of them.

We like the idea of a rotating schedule as well, but if you think promoting an event is a PITA out of one location, imagine coordinating it out of multiple locations....

I think the plan is to find a "home base" and then try to expand into some sort of traveling event once we have a few more of these under our belts.

I think the Nashville area makes sense, because it's the most centrally located population center in the state.

I like the Murfreesboro suggestion - but of course I would being in south Nashville.. 20 miles (So. of Davidson County line) is 20 miles for the folks coming in from the South, and 840 would make it easier/faster than going through Nashville for people coming from points east.

You got a home base already just stick with it, they will attend. Maybe Tullahoma would be better. Or another location there in Winchester.

I'm gonna throw in my gut feeling here. Keeping it in Winchester will make it more difficult to make it successful over the long run. First of all, Winchester is too far off the beaten path to make it an attractive destination. Closer to an interstate exit would be a plus.

Secondly, and perception is everything, but with Hero-Gear having such a large presence in the show being the co- sponsor and being located right there, it might be difficult to draw other smaller vendors. There's no question the perception is that H-G has the "home field advantage". How many other vendors pulled out at the last minute last time? I'm sure that played into it some. Let's face it, vendors coming long distances are just going to be bringing what they can bring, while Joe can be running a virtual convoy from the store to the show to replenish.

I'm not being critical of Joe or his store here, it's great that he's backing this and his store is a great place. But if it's perceived by other vendors as the Hero-Gear Expo, that's going to make it difficult to grow it.

Does anybody remember where Ray Judge's Shop was. It was off the beaten path, but the path was well traveled.

I personally do not see more people attending in Winchester than Nashville. Hey, I could be wrong.

Patty, we have to do what draws the biggest crowds in order to make it attractive and profitable for the vendors who participate. While Winchester makes sense to you for personal reasons, it does not make sense to the vast majority of our vendor partners.

I'm sorry but Winchester is a closed issue at this point. No sense beating that horse any further.

I would like to make a suggestion.

Adopt the same method that a group I belong to does.

3 locations, 1 west, 1 middle, and 1 east. Rotate them so everyone has the opportunity to attend.

While I missed out on the DEC show I was planning on attending but work got in the way.

I'll crawl back under my rock now.;)
