Mutt's Official Resignation

Don't know what is going on here. Did someone else get pissed at the color of the sand in your sandbox David?

Well in this particular case I believe that the OP just wasn't pleased with the outcome of several threads. However, I do agree to an extent that we've again started to see more anti-establishment comments from people who hate the police, hate the government, hate people who don't vote like they do, etc.

I want TGO to be a place where people can relax and enjoy themselves but I also want it to be a source of good information. As we've grown, I've noticed that sometimes the signal gets easily lost in the noise.

Hopefully my schedule will start to gel a little soon and I'll be able to devote more time to the normal maintenance of the site. I also think that the moderating team needs to be resupplied and perhaps freshened up a little. Which comes as no surprise to the moderators as I've discussed it openly with them in the Staff area.

Sometimes new blood brings new perspectives. Even if it's just adding to the ranks. ;)

Sorry to see you go Mutt. I've noticed some of what you talk about. It's weird when things go so far right that I feel like the liberal in the room. But I just ignore most of them and sing to myself. "Moonbats to the left of me, wingnuts to the right, here I am stuck in the middle again ..."

I disagree with a lot of members on this forum because I'm a centrist, but how can one say they respect another's 2A rights without respecting their 1A rights as well? If you don't like what someone says then use the "Ignore" function of the forum for it is your friend.

You do have a penchant for using derogatory terms for those with whom you disagree, and this "Gooddbye" post is self-serving: therefore, don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out.

Exactly how many times has he threatened to leave/left now? This may be the first time he's actually created a thread about it, but it's NOT the first time he's said it in the recent past. Seems a bit narcissistic, don't ya' think?

For those who don't remember the thread about the boy being suspended for bringing a Lego gun to school (look for it yourselves; I'm lazy), Mutt got his panties in a bunch when someone revived the old anti-teacher hymns many of us used to sing in elementary school. His inability to separate harmless tomfoolery from actual homicidal ideation made him appear quite foolish to this former therapist, but the difference between him and me is, I didn't feel the need to take my ball and go home when he refused to change his tune.

Ain't it funny how the people who claim to be the most reasonable and tolerant are often the least? There. I guess I actually DID stand up to somebody... ;)

I wish people would use the report button when things of this nature are posted.

Mutt, grab a hold to your man card real tight like. If there is a war going on behind the door, you know, shots being fired, bullets flying, just don't go there. Just don't open the door unless you are the one being paid to do so. This is the internet, you should know.

....Yet few stand up to these people (conservativew?!!).

This is EVERYTHING the conservatives tell me they stand against and the forum Liberal is only one who is consistently standing against it in this forum.

I am many things, but I will not be a supporter of a community who does not actually stand against the types of people I have mentioned above. You say you will, but you don't.

Cuss me all you like, I am WILLING stand alone if that is what it means to stand for what is right

Don't ask me to stand by and watch like so many have.

With that, I give my resignation. I will miss my many friends on this forum along with the many things I have learned from you.

Sincerely,

Mutt

Remember this one thing: Never interrupt anyone who is busy making a fool of himself (unless he is you, or one of your loved ones); and never argue with a fool.

Dialogue (both civil and uncivil) is important in the discussion of ideas. The idea that ever law is just and that every action taken by a group (read that government, political party, conservative vs liberal, etc...) is honorable and right is childish. We enjoy a remarkable freedom of expression in a multitude of outlets in this country today. One of the outlets that provides this "free speech" is this very forum; and those who run it are to be applaued for providing it.

For over two hundred years we have respected the right of "free speech" in this country; which, by the way, means "political free speech". This idea of free speech has spilled over (as it should have) to all areas of life. The only people who are whining about "hateful speech" today are those who would take your right to speech away. You generally see this from those who favor the "politically correct" view that comes from the currently constituted stalinist left. I think it is hilarious that those who used the power of free speech to come to power by thumping and lambasting the demonic conservatives; now somehow dont like the concept of "free speech" when it is applied to their actions and opinions. Sounds like a step toward totalitarianism to me. All brought to you by the left. I thought they were the proponents of the truth??

A great Greek philosopher once said: "The mark of intellect is to be able to consider an opinion without embracing (read that: accepting) it." We all have differing opinions on a myriad of issues. Intelligent discussion (read that "dialogue"----thats what we do here..) of those issues is the mark of responsible citizens (for the most part) exercising their freedom to do so in a free society.

You also need to consider that the fringes (both left and right) serve a useful purpose in society and, i believe, in this forum. Never beat people up because of their opinions. If you hang around with people that all share your opinion; you will never learn much nor influence people to consider your opinion. Do it kindly and wisely.

By the way; all this was written by an avowed right wing nut. I believe nothing that the socialists, communists, stalinists, and boschelvics would have you believe. I always like to hear what folks have to say; that's how you learn. That being said, dont expect folks to just accept your assertions, views, opinions and rants without questioning them or proposing a viewpoint that is counter to yours. It simply wont (and i believe shouldnt) happen in a free society.

I would recommend some introspection on your part. The big question is (in my mind, at least) is: Are you interesting in hearing only those voices that parrot your worldview; or are you interested in all views???!

That being said, sorry to see ya go (if you decide to). Or, glad to see ya stay. Enjoy your right to free speech and exercise it regularly.

Remember, there aint no free speech in the Muslum countries and in North Korea.

Kind regards,

LEROY

No remedy by running. Stay and help teach people to open their minds a little more to learn a little more. If you run, they win. That's how our gov. got so bad in the first place. I agree, people need to stand up for their beliefs more but some need to learn more before they'll actually do that. Come on and stay and help give'm a better clue.;)

I didn't know you had to resign from a forum. That's an interesting way to say you disagree with others. And way too dramatic.;) This is a pretty lively place and

points of view are various, which they should be. If you believe yours is the only

view that counts, then maybe you made the right decision. I'm one of those right

wingers that listens to others and challenges. I think I'm polite for the most part.

Sometimes I don't type and just read. I'm sure I would rather try to explain why

some person's point of view has a flaw than to gather my toys up and leave, if I

am right. If I am wrong, I can take constructive criticism, too. Open your mind up

and try to see the world for what it is.

Have a good life, whoever you are.

It was a good rant, but that's just my opinion :-)

Thanks. Unfortunately for you, I've noticed a similarity in comment patterns from some occasional postings. You are brilliant, but somewhat demented.:)

I get on here to talk about guns and shooting. Just choose not to read all the political bull :) like I do.

+ 1...I agree with this.

I have my opnions and thoughts on a lot of things on here, You can call it what you wish but Im not going to get into a debate and argue politics or religion with anyone on here because we dont have the same views. I thought this fourm was designed for the discussion of firearms and the like.

If this post had been on the political fourm I never would have read it.

So help me understand this thread, 1 member got his feelings hurt because there are people on this forum that don't agree with him. So it took 7 pages of pleading to try to get him to stay?

This is crazy! I can't even make it through one day without disagreeing with someone's political views or life views in general. So personally I don't care If you stay or go!

That certainly was not 7 pages of people trying to get him stay.

:bs:Everyone has an opinion, and the right to express them. If they can't do it without insulting someone they disagree with, well ,I just hit the ignore button on them.

Has anyone else noticed that most of the whiners and complainers are not benefactors? :screwy:

Is that the same thing as "pulling rank"?

Why contribute in a positive manner either monetarily or with meaningful posts when it is much easier to get butthurt then whine and complain about how you think it should be?

Gee I'm sorry to see someone leave...but you gotta have some pretty thick skin when cruising and participating on Internet Forums...one Forum I'm on closed down ALL political "debate" because it got too heated...spilled over into other areas and just got ugly. Fortunately I don't see that happening here. Sorry Mutt...
