Nit Picking?

Lately, it really bothers me when I see someone refer to a new weapon as a "new toy". Now, before you search all my threads, I will freely admit I have referred to firearm purchases in that manner also. Am I being silly? Am I nit picking? All I know is, it bothers me.

As I get older, the "toys" just get more expensive.

Honestly, I don't refer to my guns as "toys" in day-to-day life especially around my kids or family. I get what you are saying... complacency leads to accidents. I do enjoy shooting my firearms very much, though.

The difference is in just referring to it as a toy and not actually handling it like a toy.

My guns are toys. I've always owned at least a competent self defense handgun, but never could afford to buy stuff just because it's cool to own.

I have a couple of guns that I consider tools. a couple of others that could potentially be tools depending on circumstances. The others are really only toys.
