TWRA Requests Public Input For 2010-11 Hunting Regulations

Released on Mon, Feb 01, 2010 - 3:12 pm

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) is soliciting comments for its 2010-11 hunting seasons’ regulations. This is an opportunity for the public to share ideas and concerns about hunting regulations with TWRA staff.

Public comments will be considered by TWRA’s Wildlife Division staff and may be presented as proposals for regulation changes. Comments may be submitted by mail to: 2010-11 Hunting Season Comments, TWRA, Wildlife Management Division, P.O. 40747, Nashville, TN 37204 or emailed to twra.comment@state.tn.us. Please include “Hunting Season Comments” on the subject line of emailed submissions.

The comment period concerning the 2010-11 hunting season regulations will be open until Feb. 22, 2010.

I think that the TWRA does a fine job here in TN. I have lived in and experienced the hunting regs in a bunch of states, and I don't have many complaints about TN.

That said, there are a few things that I wish were different. The first thing that comes to mind is that coyote and hog hunting on WMAs are way too restricted and complicated, IMHO. Also, the does seem to seriously outnumber the bucks in unit-A where I hunt, but I cannot take any does during the gun season (without a quota hunt)? :2cents: I have more, but those are my two biggest grips right now. :P

I wonder if they take the input seriously.

I like the way you think Batman, on the coyote and feral hog issue.

I've purchased a sportsmen license every year, since they came out with them, and all the TWRA has done is further restrict and complicate the taking of these two species on WMA's...yet, they publicly claim they are having "problems" with the proliferation of these animals.

They will continue with this mindless logic, and then wonder why they are losing more and more licensed hunters every year!

Seems to me, they talk out of both sides of their mouths! FWIW :2cents:

Seems like this is your chance to tell them that.
