I am trying to repair my old savage 87 187 based rifle I usedto shoot about 15 years ago till it kinda got worn out. it is tube feed, there is a round jammed tight stuck an I am curious if I can drill the side carefully to drain the powder and oil up the primer as I will have to basically mutilate the round to get it out and I don't wat to set off the primer

do you happen to know what kind of ammo this happened on?? this has always happened with cci blazer, not sure if I ever ran anything other than that. I am going to try to find my calipers and see if the width by the rim is narrower on cci blazer just to see if it could be ammo causing it. did he ever get the issue resolved???

well i drilled a hole in the side, shook out hte powder and spray rem oil onto hte primer and pryed out the shell, that piece is stamped steel and i found a variance in width at the rim of .0035" with a mitutoyo caliper. maybe I will press the feed area together e little since it is just stamped steel which may not have been to spec at the factory

I had this problem with old mod 87d but mine was caused by the previous owner trying to shoot shorts through it in semiauto. which jamed 2 rounds between the feed ramp and the chamber causing the breach bolt spring rod to become bent and locked the bolt half open
