Get out the vote

Every bill that has failed in the Tennessee General Assembly concerning guns has failed for one of two reasons. First, the Speaker of the House will not allow a floor vote of the bill and sends the bill too committee. Second, once in the judiciary committee a vote is stalled set aside or the bill is defeated in the committee never making it back too the floor.

My wife and I arrived at a restaurant for dinner. I had just placed my handgun in the trunk when a punk stepped out of the brush. I guess he didn’t see my wife. He pulled a knife and demanded my wallet. Just then my wife stepped around the vehicle and aimed her revolver at him. The laser grip did its job and put a nice red dot on the kid’s chest she said, “Drop the knifeâ€. He saw the dot, dropped the knife, turned and ran like a bat out of hell. We don’t go too restaurants that serve alcohol any more.

We as citizens have one power and one power only, VOTE, it doesn’t matter your party, race, religion or gender if you have the privilege too vote and don’t then you have failed yourself and possibly your friends, family and neighbors by allowing laws to be passed that violate your right too self defense. Elections are coming up soon get out and register, and encourage others too do so. Only WE THE PEOPLE can make a difference. Contact your members of the General Assembly, both Senators and Representative and let them know how you feel.

it has been said time and time again the only way to get anything done with gun legislation here is to vote Naifeh out. Somehow his district keeps re-electing him.

Get thos people to make a change and things stand a chance, as it is now there is no hope.

The only other hope is for the 250,000 permit holders in the state to make a vote with their wallets. Don't go to restaurants that serve by the glass. That and raising the awareness of your neighbors.

Rumor has it that there may be changes taking place for the better next time around.

If there is a source for this then cite it.

i cant remember his name, but the instructor of the hcp class i went to, and my wife went to just recently (which i sat in on) he said this round he thought the ability to carry on wildlife land would pass. him and another guy wrote the bill. the argument that the wildlife agency had was that they had taken guns from x number of carry permit holders. well when asked to provide the info they didnt have any. he also said that there would be people carrying guns in these areas and they didnt want that. he said he brought up the fact that hcp holders have been thru classes and have had tbi, fbi, checks ect. and when they issued hunting license what kind of background checks do they do??? he says after about a six month battle with them he has a letter saying they will back the bill next time around.. i guess we will see. i would like to see the bill pass. everytime i go out on my boat i would be legal then. i think there is more alchohol on the water sometimes than there is in most bars. i wont be caught defenseless. i asked him what would be the penalty if someone was caught say on the lake or something with their weapon. he says he has asked that question. they say $50.00 fine and taking the gun. tells me to take cash and a cheap gun with me..

What I was speaking about was a replacement for Nafiee, not another bill. When he goes up for reelection this time he will have a electable opposition.

Slightly OT, but wouldn't that technically be unconstitutional?

TN Constitution:

That the citizens of this State have a right to keep and to

bear arms for the common defense; but the legislature shall

have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of arms with a

view to prevent crime.

If stored on the boat in a storage compartment, you are not technically "wearing" the firearm. And since your boat is not a public vessel or easily accessible, preventing you from possessing your weapon would prevent crime as much as prohibiting it in your home.

If you do get caught, I vote we raise you a legal fund and take it to the TSC! B)

EDIT: Also, what is the law on keeping a loaded shotgun on the boat for "waterfoul hunting"? You never know, you might get the urge to hunt!

get a house boat, then it is a dwelling B)

I would still check on this for myself before taking his word for it, not that he is wrong, but it is always better to check when planning on a "firearm related charge"

what if its not $50, and gun taken..what if it a class B misdermeanor firearm related, then you lose your permit...

that would SUCK

Would that be filed under the same reasons for not being allowed to hunt from within your automobile???:blink:
