Carrying in MS on TN permit

I have to take a trip to MS tomorrow to look at a network problem at one of our client hospitals.

I've googled for TN/MS reciprocity, and it looks like I'm good, but most of the pages haven't been updated in years, so I wanted to verify that this is still up to date.

Also, anyone know if there is anything special about carrying in MS, or is it similar to TN?

I don't know anything about Mississippi's laws, but this may help you some:

Mississippi Department of Public Safety - Highway Patrol - Firearms Permit Unit

There's a phone number at the bottom of the page, so you could give 'em a quick call and probably find out anything you want to know, straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak.

According to my buddy that lives in Wiggins (near gulfport) MS haily barber the governor is pretty lenient and he told me that haily allows them to carry loaded firearms in their trucks without a permit. Of course he works for the state so that could have something to do with it.

Thanks for the reply Jamie, not sure how I missed that page.

I called them and was told "Yes we honour TN permits" and that "the carry restrictions and prohibited places are basically the same as in TN."

Guess I'll just do what I normally do and not worry too much about it.

I reckon he was right.

Mississippi Law Sec. 97-37-1 (2) states "It shall not be a violation of this section for any person over the age of eighteen (18) to carry a firearm or deadly weapon concealed in whole or in part within the confines of his own home or his place of business, or any real property associated with his home or business or within any motor vehicle".

I dont feel like looking up the exeact statute, but MS law actually says that you dont need a permit to OC as long as the gun is not concealed "in whole or in part", but the AG says that even a holster conceals a gun "in part":bs:

Everything went fine. Actually, it was rather amusing, when I got there the IT guy had a guns 'n ammo magazine on his desk so we started chatting. Turns out that 2 of the IT guys, and 2 of the doctors have MS permits and were carrying as well. We all wound up just hanging around while some network tests were running and talking guns and self defense.
