There's quite a few choices. You need to narrow it down a bit to purpose and what you have had and liked or didn't like in the past.

Was kinda thinking of a fun gun along the lines of a M&P 22 then got to thinking that I have nothing in the nightstand LOL... maybe something in a glock or xd flavor

If it will be your only gun I'd suggest a good carry gun ala - Glock17/19, CZ P07, M&P, XD etc. Keeping the same utilitarian mindset in long guns, maybe a nice Remy 870 or Pardner Pump (870 clone cheaper) decked out. Knoxx Spec-ops stock and all or a good AK. Later as you get more you can add the eye candy pieces.

GLOCK 27. It's a good all around gun, and 40S&W is available in quantity at WalMarts across TN.

I like your 27 suggestion also because if you want to shoot 9mm drop a barrel in and shoot for 9mm for cheap target practice if I ever get a Glock I think it will be a .40 just for this fact alone. But my personal suggestion is a Springfield XD they fit my hand better than the Block's.

I would also have to go with the XD vote. I do like glock, but my xdm 40 is the smoothest shot'en 40 i have ever shot! I know the xdm is a little more, so i would get the xd 40!

G19 or G26 :D if I were gunless. If I had one gun it would be a G26 so I'd get a Remington 870 or a Mossberg 500.

M&P 40 for the nightstand or a 40C if you also want to carry it.

Besides being better quality than either of those; its American Made.

$500...My vote is the best bang for the buck possible.

-2 tickets to a movie or fun event

-2 tickets to a nice dinner

-Some flowers for the lady

-a car wash

-a haircut

-maybe a pair of inexpensive, but nice earrings in her favorite color

-Set the stage and let her know a couple of days ahead of time.

- Like a drink?....some nice Appleton VX rum to sip after a hard day

You are up to around $150-$200. Any of the stains here who say this is not money well spent is doing something wrong.

This will give you $300 - $350 left. Keep patient and pick up a good condition, older model, pre lock Smith and Wesson .38 and a box of ammo. Or maybe a Blackhawk or Single Six. Something that one day will be passed onto your child...who may very well be brought into existance if above steps have been taken :-)

We lose sight, as gun lovers, how much money is dumped into our hobby. It is healthy to step back to the real world and invest every now and then into something that will give much more satisfaction than blued steel, walnut, and the smell of powder.
