No significance. People do it with all cities that end in "ville".

Nashville is a fun town. Las Vegas is a sh!# hole. They call Asheville NC, Ash Vegas. I quess since Nashville is a tourist town maybe that is why. I lived in Nashville while I was in school, I'd still be there if things had worked out....

I guess you didn't find the good parts of Vegas. :)

When i went to music row at night, i saw the similarities for sure! A bunch of people walking up and down the street, in and out of establishments, getting more and more intoxicated, and all under a sea of flashing hypnotic neon modern art... that there is Vegas baby!

More importantly, why haven't so many people from this area been able to distinguish the difference between the words 'sell" and "sale"?

Same reason they don't know how to use their, there and they're. They weren't learned proper. :)

I lived a large part of my life in Asheville and never, before today, heard Ashe Vegas. I'm starting to think some of you are making this stuff up.

Are we in danger of jacking this thread if I say: lose, loose?

I started the thread and it's OK with me. Those things bug me too. Oh yeah, to, too, two.

I think Nashvegas sounds kinda catchy, like Hispanioch. If it has any signifigance, I'm not aware of it.

Syphilis is kind of catchy too but I don't want any part of it.

It does seem that you have been working on filling your brain. :)

We are, perhaps, more alike than it would appear on the surface. From one inconspicuous Reverend to another, if I recall correctly.

Yes sir, I try to absorb all I can and then form my opinion from and educated perspective. I truly enjoy philosophy. Are you familiar with jungian philosophy of 46 and 2? You are correct on my status, though I gave up biblical theology many years ago.

Stupid name... city bears no resemblance of Las Vegas whatsoever. This is coming from someone that has been in Nashville for 25 years.

I kinda like Cross Vegas, 'cause it rhymes - Viva, Cross Vegas!

I think the whole -vegas thing is a combination of sarcasm and wishful thinking.

Yes.

We called Starkville, StarkVegas in the late 80 and early 90s, so this has been going on for some time. Just sarcasm since Starkville is/was no vegas.

I'm somewhat familiar with it. Aside from the chromosome thing, which I view as purely biological, the concept of the evolution to the next level of consciousness where each cell has it's own consciousness fits with a couple of other theories regarding the soul and the universe that I find very interesting. It even fits, to some degree, with theories presented by Edgar Cayce, and he was considered a prophet, not a philosopher. I can see where this could turn into a long discussion.

Talk about off topic! :D
