I know this is probably childs play to most of you, but I installed new black furniture on my AK myself for the first time and had to show off a bit.

I also have a Galil style handguard and love it. Let us know how the folder works out. Now when you bury it for a few years it will still have furniture left. All you'll have to do is stomp the bolt open and clear the barrel. :usa:

I've been known to use Tapco a lot, but could never bring myself to get that stock. Just never liked the looks of it. Looks evil and black nonetheless. :usa:

Thanks guys. I'm not a big fan of how big the hinge is on the stock, but I like the rest of it and it was at the right place at the right time for the right price. My next purchase for this one will be optics. I already know how I will mount the rail, but I don't want to spend 300+ on optics. I really just want a decent red dot. Any suggestions?

There are better hinged buttstocks where the mechanism is much closer to the receiver, but you have to cut the stock tang off the back of the receiver. They also cost more :). As far as optics, I had a Bushnell Holosight on mine and I really liked it. Pretty much the same thing as an EoTech, just without the bells and whistles and a bit cheaper. It looks like your rifle has the rails for a sidemount optics rail. That's the only way to go in my opinion.

Yeah, Seaslug has his optics sidemounted like that. I don't understand why none of the local shops carry that sidemount though. I have called CC and Gunny's, neither of whom have it in stock. And their optics selection is minimal. Do you guys order online?

Yeah I ran into the same problem. Midway usually has a good selection of stuff.

Have you considered mounting an Ultimak rail to your gas tube? Gives you some real estate forward of the dust cover, and it looks great with a Burris Fast Fire or similar. I just so happen to know where you can get a slightly used one for cheap... :D

Nevermind. The one I have won't fit your gun. Still a good mounting option for under $100, though. In addition to Midway, you can try CDNN or AIM Surplus.

Unless you're going to get an optic with an integrated mount for the siderail ($$$), I'm not as big a fan of the siderail option as some. I just don't care for the gap between the dust cover and the top rail, but that's just me...

Well, It really didn't, it just took me this long to post the pictures. We needed some new conversation anyway, I'm tired of getting mad about politics and cop bashing threads. :eek:

Thanks man. It is just an NC Star Mark III. I didn't really want to put a $500 optic on my AK. The NC has held up well though.
