Problem is, there's so much crap being spewed by the media from both sides that it's disgusting. I've never been a fan of journalists, probably because I've had to work around them my whole adult life, but now, journalism is in the crapper.

Too many people believe Rush, and his leftie equivalents, and don't take time to look at the hard data and decide for themselves. Most of these commentators are driven by ratings and big egos, NOT providing accurate analysis.

I haven't read any detailed reports on the stimulus package, so I'm not qualified to comment. My guess is that most of the 75% haven't read one either. Most are going on what they've heard from some gassbag on radio or TV.

We owe it to ourselves to get our data from the source, not from some media clown that picks facts just to fire up their base audience. I'm tired of being lied to by politicians AND "news" weenies.

Did/do you have time to read the 2,000+ pages of the healthcare bill before forming an opinion? Do you have the background knowledge to make sense out of it and have the ability to determine the difference between a living will and killing off of seniors?

Rush Limbaugh never claimed to be a journalist, nor did Beck or any of that genre. When I hear that kind of generalization, I think naivete sometimes is a little too rampant. Even though they are not journalists, they are usually right when they speak. Of course you don't have to listen to them, either.

The stimulus was nothing but shovel ready pork. Go get your data from the source. That's a good idea. Make sure the source is genuine and impartial, also. Maybe you will find generalizaions don't fit all gassbags on radio and TV. Try looking at Rush's links on his webpages at the bottom of each article. Is Heritage Foundation is one you may consider credible? Cato Institute? Or are they too gassy? CBO? OMB? FBI? CIA?

The Congressional Record? And even some journalists who do actually fact check.

Then consider so called journalists list of references. IPCC for global warming, Tides Foundation talking points? Interviewing each other and slandering their opponents

and calling that news. If you can't see the difference, Lenscrafters is just around the corner.

I think there is a striking difference.

Klein and the one at NYTimes, Hoffman, are quacks and progressives, but there are

some good journalists that well tuned BS detectors can eventually let through the filter.

Time Magazines' Joe Klein seems to think so.

Too Dumb to Thrive - Swampland - TIME.com

I think that Mr. Klein has his head up his rectum.

Yes, because he has absolutely no clue what he's talking about. The $60-$80 extra in your paycheck wasn't from the stimulus, it was from the employer simply not withholding as much in taxes from your paycheck. You know what that means? It means that many many people are going to find out when they do their taxes that they owe money when they normally wouldn't have and now don't have the money to pay them.

No I didn't, and I'm not going to go out and preach somebody else's interpretation of it... somebody else that probably didn't read it either. From my personal experience, I believe <something> needs to be done, but so does every member of Congress

Not really bashing just Rush or Beck. I'm bashing ALL of them, on both sides of the arguments. Naivete? Probably so.

BTW... I told Phil Valentine how cool I thought it was when he stormed the state capitol over the income tax thing. Used to pass him in the hall every day.

dang I must have gotten screwed, it was only about 5 bucks in my check, and I went to payroll and changed my deduction to make up for that. 60 or 80? thats a lot of money.

I like Phil a lot. If it wasn't for him, we would have

an income tax. I should have him mentioned in the above

post, also.

I like Phil too. Pretty respectful guy for somebody that's packin' all that ego (which they all gotta have to do their gigs). Haven't seen him for a few years. He moved on to another company.
