Who has a break open single shot rifle?

I'm really intrigued by the very cheap single shot centerfire rifles being produced by Rossi and Remington and others. I assume they're cheap because of the action and not from cutting corners on accuracy or reliability? Would these be fun guns to punch paper with? I always ignored single shots but time spent with my single shot .22 has proven to be both cheap and fun.

I was looking for something to shoot out to 200 yards. Anyone have any personal experience?

I have a Savage single shot .30-30... but I have never shot it. My grandfather fished it out of a lake in NY in the 60s or 70s, surprisingly it's not in too bad shape.

The break action rifles seem to be catching on in the hunting world ever since the T/C Encore came out that you could buy interchangable barrels for. If you watch much hunting on TV there are more and more people all the time hunting with them. The only ones I've ever shot were a 30-30 and a .243, but both were really accurate.

They're alot of fun to shoot, because when we're target shooting I usually load my bolt action rifles one round at a time as well anyway, but personally I don't really have much of a use for them. When hunting I like the option of having extra rounds in the rifle just in case I need them.

I have a NEF .270. I have shot a deer or two with it & love it. Haven't shot it in a long time though it is my next caliber to start loading for. I have never shot it over 100yrds. I'm also going to send it in to have another barrel fitted for it in probably .223 cost is about $100 to have other rifle barrel fitted to your receiver, & can also do most shotgun barrels for about $50.

I have a Rossi matched set .308/20 gauge, this is a great rifle accurate and simple to clean. I picked mine up at a gun show for my nephew but ended up keeping it. 200 yards with the 308 not a problem, in fact the last deer i shot this year was 180 yards, and the bullet hit exactly where crosshairs were. Great gun at a fairly cheap price.

I've got my eye on a Remington break open .308. Anyone know if it's just an import they slapped their name on?

In my opinion it is fairly lite I would say around 3lb of pull maybe alittle more.

I have an H&R combo that has a 20 guage barrel as well as a 30-30 barrel. It will routinely shoot moa groups and has accounted for many deer. I also have a very old Savage in 22 hornet. It shhot pretty good as well. I like the single shots.

I have a H&R Ultra in .243 with a bull barrel. I bought it several weeks ago, but have not had the opportunity to mount my scope, which is on order. H&R and NEF have a cult like following and they are not fond of the Rossi's for quality control reasons. I think Remington now owns H&R and they have an excellent barrel exchange program if you get the itch for another caliber. FYI - there are a few H&R's on ###.com right now in .308 if you are looking locally.

I have a T/C Encore in 243. It is a great deer rifle but it is also a great gun to punch paper with.

I have a single shot 22-250 from Rossi that I picked up for under $200 - I bought it for my boys to shoot. I figured if they were taking the time to load and fire each time they would learn to shoot more accurately than if they're just throwing lead.

most of what I shot has been break action shotguns but I shot a .45/70 break action and it was tons of fun.

where are the remington break actions, I dont see them on their site anywhere

Well, Remington seems to be owned by Cerberus Capitol Management. I believe Cerberus is the top of that particular food chain.

I bought a rossi 20guage single from a pawn shop for like 80something or 90 OTD kinda ugly but good and reliable, and I heardthe same stuff when I researched them online
