Liberty Centurion Safe sold at Lowes

Recommended Posts

Sounds like your karma caught up with you regarding the keys.:D:D

Funny you said that. That's the first thing I thought when this happened. To be honest, I had a guilty conscience about it ever since I did it. It was kind of instinctual when I did it......a product of my old self. I didn't think about it much until after I put the keys in my pocket.

Really, it wasn't a huge deal......I didn't find the keys until after the sales lady and I had already looked......and the manager had already told the girl on the phone how much he'd sell it to me for. So, even if I'd have said, "Hey, look, I found the keys," to the girl when she walked back and told me "$600," I seriously doubt she would have said "Oh, wait a minute then, let me go tell the manager....he might not want to mark it down that much since you found the keys." The girl had already told me that all I had to do was call Liberty and they'd send me new keys.....and you don't need the keys to operate the safe. All the keys do is lock the combo dial so it won't turn......I won't even be using them. Besides, once someone gives you a price, that's the price. I think the main reason they marked it down is because I really wanted one in a box, and all they had was the floor model. It was taking up a lot of room too and I think they just wanted to get rid of it.

That being said, I still feel guilty about it.

Regarding the electronic lock comments.......

I've had a small Sentry safe that has the electronic lock for several years. It has never given me a problem and it's super fast to get into. I really had a hard time with that combination lock when I was trying it at the store. The years have caught up with me and I'm not as steady as I once was, plus I don't see very well without my glasses. I can't even imagine trying to open that thing in an emergency. Maybe I'll change my mind with a little practice.....we'll see. I think I'd at least buy one of those stick on battery operated lights and mount it on the safe above the dial so I could see it in the dark even if the power was out.

What kind of problems have you guys had with your electronic locks?

I have an electronic lock on my safe. I have had zero problems with it in the 5 years that I have owned it!

Just wait until the EMP from the nuclear blast. :):D:D:D

I figure the battery will die at the most inopportune moment. I'd just prefer the tried and true combination lock. I checked out the smaller version tonight and will likely pick one of those up going forward.

. . .That being said, I still feel guilty about it. . . .

Suggestion: After delivery, take your receipt and keys back to Lowe's, see a manager, tell them you found the keys in the safe and offer to pay the difference.
