As a companion thread to "What are you listening to?" I wanted to know if ya'll would let us know when you find something good/bad and what you thought about it.

Today was:

Mr. Smith Goes To Washington - Own it and it's always good. Classic.

The Seige of Firebase Gloria - Viewed it on-line. Ermey :up:almost saves it. They made up for lack of plot and good dialogue with endless Vietcong firefights. Bad soundtrack except for the tens of thousands of blanks they shot.

McCabe and Mrs. Miller - Odd western from '71 with Beatty trying to set up a whorehouse and saloon when some developers want to buy him out. He won't do it and a contract is on his head. I was more annoyed by the dim-lit transfer to DVD, muted audio and fake snow effects. Props for the Leonard Cohen songs.

Thinking about watching "Sneakers" next.

You assess correctly, sir.

Watching "Antibodies" on Netflix. Decent so far. Like Seven and Angel Heart, but it's German with subtitles, so I constantly have to click the pause button to read it. It's got one of the boys in Boondock Saints (Norman Reedus?), but I've only seen him at the beginning.

EDIT: Norman is in the first raid scene, and never since. Complete false advertising. Worth a look anyway. Especially if you already speak German.

Thought I might make good on my only New Year's resolution to sleep earlier. My wife screwed that up good and tight. I'll be watching "Iron Man" and putting me to bed an hour later.

Which one?

I'm guessing you are asking me, if not, disregard, if so, the one from 2004 with Matt Dillon, Sandra Bullock, Brenden Frayser and Jennifer Esposito!

Thought so. It was a complicated sort of piece, considering most movies.

I don't find myself getting too "caught up" in a movie, I get into them, but not overly so, but the scene where the store owner, goes to the lock smiths house....that moment, I almost cried.

Ummm, I mean spits, burp, <scratches ass>....

Netflix online of "The Core" but only for scene when they introduce D.J. Qualls. Did you know that he's from Nashville?

And Hillary Swank is kinda cute at certain angles. Sad to see she keeps getting skinnier.

"This young man will be as unfeeling, as unthinking as the dead until the day he joins them."

Glad to find that Netflix online was featuring "Johnny Got His Gun". Knew about it because of Metallica's "One" video. Couldn't easily find it for rental.

The boy comes back from war and narrates to us what it's like to have no limbs nor the ability to speak. Donald Sutherland is good at comforting us when he (we?) dream. And then he finds a cute nurse who cares for him. and  But wait! Did I mention he lost his limbs because he was protecting his junk? And the nurse found out about it after a few nipple tweaks. Then he discovers he can communicate by bobbing his head with morse code.

If you want to see this through Netflix, do it soon because you never know when they'll take it off.

Just saw "Bullfighter" with Willem Dafoe, except that it's not with him. He's hardly in it. The rest is like Desperado and El Mariachi. So much so that it has Robert Rodriguez in a bit part. Guillermo Del Toro's a bit part. The best part is Michael Parks from the Kill Bills doing what he always does. Somebody needs to cast him in something different.

Watching "Heavy Metal In Baghdad" about a metal band in Iraq. Wasn't gonna report on this one, but what got me was they're doing an interview by a swimming pool at mid-day and there is machinegun fire on both sides of the pool and there's a guy that keeps doing laps. Like, "Eh, wutchya gonna do?"

Westworld with Yul Brynner and James Brolin. I have watched this movie since I was a kid and love it everytime I watch it. Basically these guys go on vacation to a type of amusement park where they get to play cowboys against robots that look human. Then the computer that runs them all crashes and one of the robots (Yul Brynner) starts killing people and hunting the two main characters down. The sequel is Furtureworld, which I didn't care for.
