Not forking hay, slinging hay. We used to get paid to go into the fields after they bailed the hay and throw the bails onto the flatbed. A lot of times Mom would work out a deal with the farmer where she got the hay cheaper if we drove the out truck into the pasture and got it ourselves.

That's a lousy job.

Born in 1952. Still have my love beads & a half bottle of Boones Farm Mellow Days. Wanted to go to Woodstock but, Mom said no. THEY WERE GREAT TIMES! Anyone remember Grand Funk Railroad? How about Leon Redbone.

ABSOLUTELY!!!

in 1950. Can't imagine a better time. I have done a lot, and participated in everything the time and culture had to offer. Grew up the burbs, middle class blue collar family and spent 68-73 in a large midwest university. What a time!! I rode out the Vietnam War on a 2S and almost went at the end and would have gone. I was a yuppie hippie. It confused the women and they loved it. Made a great deal of the scene and spent 4 years in Idaho from 73-77 hunting birds and teaching school.

Had a 74 VW bus just like this one and spent 4 summers living in it between school years.

Those times filled me with a wanderlust and live for today attitude doing things I shouldn't have lived through. The music was good and when people ask if you would do it again, my answer is absolutely. I didn't have much but all you needed was a bag of goodies, a case of Stroh's a good sound system and willing women.

what a trip down memory lane....Someone mentioned Leon Russell......My all time favorite artist. In 73 I was 17, my draft number came up 2nd. Had I been one year older I would have been drafted. Then the draft ended, nam ended, whewww, dodged a bullet. Those were some nasty times, did we ever find out why we were in nam??? I don't remember, as for the pony tail, yes Suntzu, I had one, a curly one. Drive in movies with Felix the Cat, Cheerleaders, and other X rated movies.

I think we all have disproved the theory that all old hippies ended up being Socialist left wing anti gun tree huggin nut jobs.

Far Out Man !

"We're coming to your town to help you party it down cause we're an AMERICAN BAND"

What about When Deep Purple :D did "My Woman from Tokyo", all the girls at my school hated it.......how about yall?

I got to see them at the Orange Bowl in Miami.....Absolute excellence!

The girls also did not care much for The Guess Who and American Woman:p

"American woman stay away from meeeeee, now woman momma let me beeeee, I dont want see you hanging around my door, I dont want to see your face no more......Now woman"

I kinda understand why the ladies were upset:rolleyes:

Or how about about Nazareth "Dont go messin with a son of a Beach"

Or when Duane Allman was killed (RIP Bro) in a bike vs Flat bed truck wreck, then just a week or so later they lose Berry Oakley (RIP Bro) bike wreck also.

But then the band responds with the Super Classic double album titled "Eat a Peach" containing both of their final works ....remember the killer collage pic inside that album cover?

You could look at it for hours under a BLACK LIGHT!

"You're my Blue Sky, you're my Sunny day, Lord you know it makes me High when you turn your love my way"

Dam I wanna go back......:D:D

I guess I'll have to settle for growing my hair and cranking up the "Classic Rock" on these new little shinny album thingys that dont need a diamond or saphire needle to play?...They are kinda cool:cool:

"The lunitic is on the grass"

Did you ever know a nite club called "Daddy's Money" it was downtown Atlanta. One of the Stock holders of a company I worked for in Gatlinburg owned it. IT WAS A FIRST CLASS ROCK & ROLL CLUB "gooood times"

I remember it! Wasn't downtown though, it was at The Prado. I-285 @ Roswell Rd.

This was the center where the original (to Atl.) TGI Fridays was.

I didn't go there often. Usually went to Penrod's @ Northlake. This was so long ago that I drank Dewar's scotch on the rocks for $1.75 and they were 2 for 1.:D

I also agree Atlanta was the greatest in the 60's-70's. We hung out on the South Side. Stewart Ave/Lakewood area. I even had a 68 VW Camper Van. We all had long hair and partied like there was no tommorow. Penny and dime beer nights at the clubs. Joined the Army and never looked back. Still soldiering and bald. They were great memories.
