Upcoming CIS Advanced Concealed Carry

Long story short, good class.

When I arrived Sunday morning, it was cold, and wet, and the gate to the range was locked. Todd took care of the gate problem, unfortunately there wasn't much he could do about the weather. It stayed cold, and moderately wet all day.

We spent a while on the bleachers before moving to the range. Todd covered a lot of topics, far too much information for me to recount here. I picked up a lot of good information, and he did a great job of breaking it up to keep it from becoming overwhelming.

Before moving to the range and shooting portion of the class, we did some 'force on force' exercises with airsoft guns. It was good to actually put some of the things Todd had talked about into practice with a live person. It's easy to listen, think, and strategize about what you would do when someone was charging at you, it was another game altogether to actually try it.

We got to the range and started by being seeing how long it took each of us to draw from concealment and place three shots on the target. I was very surprised at my time, especially in the 'sunshine and bunnies' world of the range. We spent a lot of time going over drawing. Until this class, I really hadn't realized how important the draw is to being able to defend yourself. Having a gun on you is one thing, actually getting that gun into a useful position when you have to is a whole new ballgame. Todd and Dustin seemed very patient with everyone, they took the time to correct the mistakes and help where we were having trouble, but still kept things moving along at a good pace.

Despite the weather, I greatly enjoyed it. If you're considering taking this class, you probably should. If you're not considering taking the class, well...you really should be. It's not just another 'check mark' class. A lot of classes, tests, certifications, etc, in and out of the firearms world, are only good for being able to check a little box that says you passed and you can add that to your resume, with nothing to really be gleaned from it. I brought home a lot of good information, now it's my responsibility to practice it and keep it fresh in mind.

I was very happy with the class. Todd and Dustin ran a professional, safe class. It was informative, fun, and well worth the money and time I invested.

Loved this class! We did drills that I would have never even thought about practicing before this class. Like others have said well worth the money. Learned a lot about how accurate one can be with a soft sight picture.

One thing I learned for sure is that my carry gun isn't moving, don't look at it when you draw!

I am trying to decide if I should take this again or their defensive pistol class or both!

I just happened to be the 'live person' he's talking about! And by the way, I thought you had bloodied my nose at one point!:hyper: Did you even realize you'd popped me?

It was a great class, and it was fun to chase your scrawny self around the hand-to-hand drills!

And maybe Todd will stop 'hating' on those XD's since we kicked the Glocks' butts all day long!

Great class.. Throughly enjoyed.. Now just got to work on not swooping. Todd and Dustin great guys and first class operation. Get chance ask Todd about guy that shot his pocket holster since it and gun came out. Cant wait for defensive pistol class.

That was very strange...yet hilarious and cool...all at the same time!

I wasn't sure quite what to feel?

Mostly we all just said "Wow. Well. OK then."

He drew holster with gun & he & the class got a laugh. BUT HE STAYED IN THE FIGHT! How many of us would have thought to fire through the holster? & what would the attacker think if not only a bullet but a chunk of leather or nylon came flying at him?

Remember that CIS courses not only teach but test.I'd give him extra credit for thinking on his feet.Ditto the young man who not only struck but moved around his attacker in the inital drill.I didn't think to do that, but where was/is the restriction not to?

As Todd said,we gotta be thinking during the fight."You have the rest of your life to solve the problem".One problem we good guys have is trying to play by "the rules". 1-there are no rules in a fight.2-even if there were the bad guys aren't gonna play by them:why should we? It Is Written:"If you ain't cheatin' in a fight you ain't winnin'."

Thanks for the kind words All (nice try, you only get the referral $ if they write your name on their Registration Form :bowrofl:)!

Dustin will be posting photographic evidence within a day or two (it might show Mrs. Bronker kicking everyone's ass...).

Thanks again.

Nosir, I did not. My apologies. You tagged me once, I had to check and make sure my lip wasn't bleeding. :D I figured it just added to the real-ism of the training.

Great class, thanks to both Todd and Dustin along with my fellow classmates. Everyone was polite, helpful, and generally just a good group.

Yeah, I figured you would have trouble with my famous triple somersault, cloven-hooved, tactical ninja move...

While I was wallowing around on the ground, I'm pretty sure I heard the Green Peace helicopter hovering...

OK ... would love to attend but I am thoroughly confused.

We found 5 results for

"Smyrna, TN" Please Select One:

1. Smyrna, TN- Rutherford County

2. Smyrna, TN- Carroll County

3. Smyrna, TN- Marshall County

4. Smyrna, TN- Pickett County

5. Smyrna, TN- Warren County

:D Now know this is the ONLY state I have ever lived in that has this type of scenario. :D

Where are you?

Is it MapQuest making things difficult for me?

Or is it the Tennesseans making themselves hard to find?

I was having enough problems with the "Someone twice my size lunging at me" tactic you employed, I definitely couldn't have handled any tactical ninja stuff.

Pretty much 98% of everything I ever say or do in front of her brings about one of the two responses every time:

1. "Hmm...ain't that something.":meh:

2. "Whatever. Just keep it away from me."

I'm afraid of her. She knows it.
