Cool, hopefully I'll be able to make it for this class.

The page shows Defensive Pistol in my browser tab too. Whoever does your web design should be able to change that pretty quick.

Is there a class like this in the Knoxville area? Otherwise I'm looking at a 200 mile trip to Smyrna! Looks like it would be worth the trip though. Also wondering if there will be another class because I just applied for my HCP last week and I seriously doubt I'll have it by Mar 14th.:tough::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I guess I am going to be part of the "Bronker Crew" that are coming. He hasn't stopped talking about it since he took it last year.

If you've taken a HCP class and are just waiting for it to arrive, that's good enough for us.

I had to pay him alot of money for that...

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Thanks! Now I'm tempted! What are the hours of the class? I'll probably just head out the night before and stay at a motel. 3 hours each way and a day in class makes for a very long day!!

Go to Critical Incident Strategies, LLC.

Go to Advanced Concealed Carry, and it has all the info.

It's 07:30 am to 3:00 pm, by the way. Worth every penny, man.

This is a good class, everyone; you'll be glad you took it. Todd and Dustin run a great class. By the way, I still have the crack whore target taped up on my wall, right beside the Declaration of Independence.

I'm interested in this. Would I be better off to bring a semi auto in an IWB rig, or a J frame in a pocket holster? I carry the J frame more often, but how easy is it to translate the stuff I learn between modes of carry? Even though I carry the J frame more, it seems like I would be better off to go through the course with the semi auto.

Train like you fight. If you carry a J frame everyday then you need to know how it runs in a given situation and train with it. You may find that a certain mode of carry does not work for you. Better to find out in training than a real situation when your life depends on it.

That's what I'm leaning toward. I have to get the printer going, but I'm going to try and be there.

Todd made it clear that you should come in your EDC rig...regardless of what it is. I asked the same question to him because my wife alternates her Keltec P3AT between purse/pocket/IWB. He said that this is exactly why he devised this class, so you would know how to fight with what you're likely to have on you, where you are likely to have it. We took the class last Fall, and will be there this March as well. See you there?

By the way, I brought the XD40 Sub Comp in a Don Hume JIT belt holster. It's my 90% of the time rig. The other 10% is the SW442 in a pocket rig.

10Kilr and Bronker are exactly right. Thanks guys.

Nothing special for the class...everyday stuff. You will not be better off going through with a semi-auto. The class was designed for both small revolvers and semi-autos.

That said, bring both.

Planning to mail off the form and a check tomorrow.

I'm planning to use the revolver, but I may bring the other along, also.

"You've done it again!"

Chalk up another winner for Todd & Dustin;the Penn & Teller of firearms instructors.

0730 Sunday 3/14 was damp & drizzly with a chilling wind & those cold metal bleachers at the Smyrna Guard range.Todd opened the class with a 2 hour discussion of safety, principles, methods & tactics of concealed carry with comments on the strengths & weaknesses of pocket vs on-the-belt vs inside-the-waistband etc,law & the goals of the class. We then hit the muddy range to practice drawstroke, draw while moving, draw while moving & fending-off an attacker, draw & fire at bad-breath distance, draw, strike, sidestep & fire at this range &,my favorite, draw & fire while seated (simulating seated in a car or at the table) with emphasis on not muzzling one's body parts & clearing obstructions.Personal lesson learned: pocket carry sucks when seated.

As always Todd & Dustin were professional, knowledgable,& well able to communicate that knowledge.

Note to graduates of Defensive Pistol:this is NOT the same course, nor is it too basic for us accomplished pistoleros (*cough*)to not profit from.Given Todd's premise the two compliment each other quite well.
