Titanium is one of the most expensive "structural" metals. The poly most likely will be used to allow the mfg. to sell ultralight revolvers at a lower pricepoint in order to undercut Smith.

Agreed, but are they really that much lighter than the scandium alloys? Surely they are not stronger.

+1 i would love to go back to the days of carrying a colt peacemaker and a 1873 winchester both in 44-40!

I've often thought about carrying a 44 SA on the hip and a 44 lever in the saddle. Makes you feel like a Clint Eastwood Bada$$.

I think the big allure for the polymer frame, aside from being new and tacticool, is that the polymer frame soaks up some of the recoil, not that it weighs a tiny bit less. All reports I have heard are that the Ruger LCR has less perceived recoil than a comparable AirWeight S&W J-frame.

Personally though, I cant stand the looks of them, the new S&W isnt too bad but its still too weird looking for me.

I'd be surprised if it cost 75 to make , when all the reports I can find say that glock admits that their cost is only $25 per pistol. How ya like that profit margin, and the local dealers sure ain't gett'n rich sell'n glocks ! But Gaston sure is !!! Look at the really high labor cost in Austria, bet cost on these plastic wheelguns is only about 20 per handgun.

i like the narrower cylinder on the LCR but i hate the grips. I kinda like the plastic revolver idea but untill they're proven i wont be getting one. the one gun i've got rid of that i wish i had kept was a taurus ultralite stainless.

I think as far as the Ruger goes, it's the trigger. I am not a revo guy, but the Ruger trigger really has me wanting one. I got a chance to feel it at the local Academy store; it was pretty dang awesome.

bingo... we have a winner.

3 things swayed me to buy an LCR:

1) I was already a fan of Ruger wheelguns

2) even @ $450, it's a way better deal for the money than a Smith.

3) THE TRIGGER. a Smith trigger simply cannot compare to the LCR's...(unless you wanna pay extra for a trigger job).

can't understand why everyone is so freaked out by the idea of a polymer frame revolver??? and I always get a chuckle out of the Glock guys bashing a polymer gun...

In 1990 when I was considering becoming a polymer engineer I talked to an engineer from a Kansas City based company that made parts for the atomic weapons program, and he told me that they had developed a polymer that was so tough that there were no machining tools capable of working in it...yet.

Dont get me wrong I like dads public defender. I wont own one though cuz the trigger pull is 45w4545454545345 pounds and I cant shoot it with any accuracy on the 45 colt but can with the 410. The taurus 85 I like as well and it will be my next wheel gun.
