It pays to buy local.

I had been looking around for bullet suppliers and found TN Valley Bullets- very reasonable source for lead, but doesn't carry much in jacketed handgun ammo. Wolf small pistol primers, $43.00/1k, as I recall (at last gun show). Good arrangement for me, our driver is there every Tuesday, and I will definitely be buying lead from them.

My local hardware store (where I buy guns regularly) sells reloading supplies- mostly blackpowder, never saw any bullets. For the hell of it, I asked him about bullets. He said "I don't know much about that stuff, but I'll order whatever you want" and whipped out a catalog.

10.25/100 for 115g FMJ 9X19. 19.00/100 for 125g FMJ 40. NO FREIGHT.

AND! 29.99/1k for small pistol primers! Hopefully he can still get me that price.

I love this guy. REALLY reasonable prices on guns, orders me whatever I want, and has great prices on reloading supplies, too!

This is true for all things. Not just gun stuff. The more we support local producers the stronger we are. Being dependent on any supply chain that is a great distance from you makes you more vulnerable.

Sounds like a trip to Union City is in order. Where is this at?

Hill's Hardware- I'm sure he'd be happy to have the biz- let me see if he can still do that price on primers- It may have been old stock- but his markup on supplies is only 20%, and he's a helluva nice guy.

Let me tell ya a story- last weekend my youngest son and I stopped in for a factory mag for my 597- the 30 round makes it hard to zero the scope. I LOCKED my keys in the truck.

Now, Mr. Hill employs a locksmith, and by state law he could not loan me a slim-jim. But Mr. Hill had the locksmith open my door for me at no charge, because I do business with him.

He earned my support FOREVER- and I'm sure he knows that.

Just a helluva fine guy.

I special ordered two guns from him so far- and they cost me less than I can buy online, even before shipping. AND HE LETS ME MAKE PAYMENTS!!!

Everybody needs a gunshop like this one nearby!

Heck let's line him up some investors and get him to start franchising. How far from Union City to Nashville ? :screwy:

How far from Union City to Nashville ?

Google maps says the fastest route is 190 miles and 3 hrs 5 mins. That takes you up into KY on I-24 and then back down thru Mayfield and Fulton. I went to Union City a few months ago by that route and then came home down Hwy 22 to I-40. That route shows it to be 178 miles and 3 hrs 28 mins. Both legs seems very long!
