Two questions

Like I've said, I've been out of the gun loop for a while. Years ago, I used a product called Break Free CLP for cleaning and lubrication. Is it still available and does anybody use it, love it, hate it?

Second; How do dealers handle background checks on handgun purchases at gun shows? Do you have to wait till they get back to their store and then they ship it to you or what?

OK, technically that's more than two questions isn't it.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

CLP is all over the place, maybe even WalMart (can't remember for sure).

FFL dealers at gunshows have various phone or net access to TICS there on the spot. Most I've seen in Knoxville use the net, I guess the venue provides WiFi or something.

1. Yes. Break Free is around and quite popular. However, I do not prefer an "all-in-one" cleaner. I like Mil-Com because it is non-toxic. I use Wilson's grease or oil. Nonetheless, it is all about what works for you, and if you like CLP, use it.

2. At gun shows the buyer completes a 4473 and the seller (if dealer) runs is through TICS. This is done on the spot, usually from a laptop. The firearm is transferred if the background check comes approved. The process takes from 5 - 30 minutes.

Buy 'em, shoot 'em, have fun!

I use CLP on my knives, and some parts of my guns. The rest of the time I use Pro-Tec products. And yes, you can get CLP at Wal-Mart its in a black "Winchester" can but has "Break Free" written below the Winchester logo it.
