I have no experience with nickel, will it corrode from corrosive ammo??? or is it just increased resistance to corrosion vs unlined bores

+1 to Garufa. Chrome is much harder than steel, consequently the advantages are reduced wear and stronger resistance to corrosion.

Is there such a thing as a nickel lined bore? If you are referring to a chrome lined bore, I can't think of any handguns that use it. Some rifles do, some don't.

My M9 is chrome lined. I personally consider chrome lining a plus. It adds a great deal of barrel life, easier cleaning, greater heat resistance. There are even a couple of HIGH dollar sniper rifles now with chrome lined bores.

No. The most commonly encountered chrome bores are military rifles. Variants of the M16 and Chinese rifles are most common (SKS, AK). It's pretty easy to know if your bore is chromed, just look at the muzzle. There is usually a distinct ring around the bore. Some custom barrels will have chrome bores, but it's not very common. The cost outweighs the benefit to the general public.
