Saw these guys stuff at the range in Gallatin, didn't shoot it since they've got it priced at $20.00 + tax per box of 50 in 9mm (yeah I know buying ammo at the range is like getting candy at the movie theater, but these guys go even higher than that...), but I thought it was cool that there's a local ammo maker here in TN.

Called them today to see what it costs from them and I was quoted $299.99 for a 1000rd case in 9mm... Add on tax and that's pretty steep for 9mm from a small producer (significantly more than Atlanta Arms and Georgia Arms anyways).

Anyone shot their stuff? Is it worth what they're charging? Am I just cheap and spoiled from picking up 50rd boxes for $11 including tax from the local Wallymart?

I'd like to order the local stuff but seems kind of expensive...

Thanks.

Their .40S&W FMJ stuff is pretty good, my local range sells it and I use the crap out of it. It's the dirtiest stuff I've ever fired and about 1 out of every 300 or so will have a dud primer, but other than that, pretty good for cheap ammo (about .20/round in bulk last time I bought).

Of course, you have to check every round (but you should be doing that anyway):

No, that's not a .40S&W wadcutter...

Hmmm... Thanks for the info.

Hey @ .20 a round, that'd be $200 for a case in .40S&W wouldn't it?

How the heck is it $100 more for 9mm per case before tax when 9mm is usually a 1/3 cheaper or so (think I didn't ask nicely or something when I got my quote)?

That's an interesting looking round you have there too, must've ordered that special...

Yah, well, close - they sell 500 rnd boxes for $110. So I guess it's .22/rnd, but I've bought so much over the years, I just grab a bag of it when I'm heading out most of the time, haven't bought any in months.

It almost made it into my mag!

Still don't see how the big price jump could come about even in months... Wonder if it has to do with where you're located, the guy on the phone said "where are you located?", when I said I go back and forth between Nash and Gallatin he said "we've got a couple local dealers near you" which is when I said "yeah, when I saw their prices I figured I'd be better off going to the source..." - thinking he quoted me high to protect his local dealers or something...

Anyone else in the Nashville area wanna give 'em a call and see what kind of prices you get?

I thought it was great when I first saw it at "the outpost armory" in murfreesboro, about 23.00/50. I thought excellent, especially after TN told the ATF to jump in a lake amd called them...WOW. I guess they're going for the show the orders multiple cases at a time, not those of us want "small" amounts. But I wish them well and hope they expand and grow, and maybe get cheaper.

I'd like to just buy a Dillion and roll my own, but have a feeling I'll have just as hard of a time finding components as just finding reasonably priced ammo...

I used to shoot alot of their ammo, until I started loading my own. I did have a couple rounds that got stuck in the chamber after firing in my old Glock 23. I met the guy once at my local range, he seemed to be a fairly nice guy. It was during the most recent primer shortage. He said he has 17 electric presses that run close to 24 hours a day to keep up with demand. And the prices vary greatly from store to store. I have seen $12 per box of 50 difference at two stores in Memphis.

CK1, $20 per 50 of 9mm sounds pretty high for the "orange box". Last time (a few weeks ago) I paid $15 per box at range here in Memphis. Personally I like the stuff. Have used a lot of it. I'd say I've only seen a couple FTF's. Nothing else. The thing is I can usually find Rem or Win boxes of 50 for $15 too, and I know they ain't reloads. It's more of a convenience getting it at the range. Have used it in all my 9's. No other caliber experience with it.

reloading is what i ended up doing. I only have a single stage press, but can usually reload up what I shot in a night. And there are plenty of coponentsto had, Reloaders bench(mt.juliet) The outpost armory(murfreesboro) have it. Although the reloader bench has more, the outpost is expanding their selection.

I got a Lee turret press for Christmas- components are no problem to find, reloading is enjoyable, and I just CRINGE at buying ammo now.

I can load +p in 9mm for a third of what I paid for cheap wolf or magtech. (Not knocking either- just saying price-wise).
