My M&P born in 2005 and my S&W 1911 born in 2006 don’t have locks.

Most of the revolvers have locks, but you can get new revolvers without locks if you want to do the research. Revolvers for export don’t have locks. Word is that some distributors have them.

I just buy the ones that don’t have locks….. plenty of them around. (Except of course the 2.5†Model 66 I’m trying to find. :))

Just a quick question. What's wrong with the locks?

I have one on the USP, but never engage it. I like the idea of being able to lock the action in case I end up somewhere with a bunch of drunk friends (I used to do Civil War reenacting.... :P) and can keep the handgun around loaded and the key on my dog tag chain.

Some have the perception that they can engage themselves. Some just don’t like the idea of “lawyer gunsâ€. And some don’t know the difference between an internal lock and a magazine disconnect; but have been told they are bad. :P

Locks are a reasonable option for someone who would use it... but I believe the most people simply do not like the idea of 'lawyer guns', and I personally don't like the actions of my firearms to be more complicated than necessary.
