With over 120,000 votes above the other, that sounds like an undeniable mandate. How do you contest something like that?

By not getting it. The news had the head of the Democratic Party in Mass quoted as saying that this election shows that the American People are "impatient." They just don't get it.

Oh I think that they get it but are not willing to admit it publicly yet. I'll bet the Dems are using a lot of Depends lately so the American public won't see them pissing in their pants.

Olbermann need to be bitch slapped. A sports caster (a crappy one at that) turned liberal political analyst.

Remember.... Liberals are like slinkys; a lot of fun when you push them down the stairs!!

AMEN! I don't even watch him on the NFL broadcast. He is a douchebag that sets the standard for all others to strive for!

Me too. I watch the games, but I won't watch one minute of the pregame, postgame, or halftime. I cannot stand that guy. And based on his ratings, it seems that few people can.

I wouldn't get too excited. Americans tend to have a short memory, and it takes a lot of emotion to get most independents to get out and vote.

I have a feeling that the Short Memory Syndrome won't be a factor in 2010. Reagan democrats and Republicans that sat out the vote saw their misgivings when they allowed Obama to get elected. When the Republican candidate sticks to the conservative platform he or she wins. The Scott Brown win proved it in Mass. We have had too many RINO's in the party. I

wonder what Arlen Specter is thinking right now.

When the choice becomes keep the republic or communism that wakes people up.

Well, it changed congress to Republican, but a couple years later they re-elected Clinton.

It sure did, when Clinton decided to go to the right, that's what got him

re-elected. Clinton was pragmatic enough to realize what it would take for

him to survive. I doubt Obama will do this. He would anger his extreme left

base. He may try. Anything's possible, but Obama has been caught in too

many lies and thrown too many under the bus. Obama is a radical and that's

a hard label to shake. Clinton was a chameleon.

I too watched the election results last night and was flipping back and forth between Fox and MSNBC when I caught Olbermann's tirade.

I have to admit, this is the first time I have ever seen his show but to say I was appalled, is a gross understatement. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I took a minute to send an e-mail to countdown@msnbc.com and urge the rest of you to do the same. Below is a copy of what I sent to him:

Your tirade last night during the acceptance speech by Scott Brown is exactly what's wrong with the democratic party today. Bitching and moaning and calling names instead of facing the facts.

It is abundantly clear that the majority of Americans do not want the health care bill that is being shoved down our throats and instead of working together (bi-partisanship) to construct a bill that both sides agree on, you simply distance yourself and the democratic party from the rest of the country with your childlike tirade.

The people of Massachusetts were very clear last night in their message. They (as well as the rest of the country) are tired of the lying, cheating politics that have become the norm in Washington. The back room deals, the lack of transparency (as promised by the Pres. himself), the bribes all have to stop and this country needs to get back to it's roots.

You sounded much like a 2 year old last night in your name calling of Sen. elect Brown and you should be ashamed of yourself for acting like that on national tv. Unfortunately, you are not ashamed and that is clear. Probably explains why your ratings (as well as MSNBC) have been in the tank. You are a pathetic waste of human DNA and maybe you should try sitting on the same curling iron while it's plugged in.

Forever conservative

We've just got "the party of really big government" and "the party of even really bigger government", with the main difference being that one of them doesn't like abortion and is afraid of getting gay cooties.

By the same token I guess you could say that one party is then afraid of getting heterosexual cooties. I don't know any non-gays that go around trying to shove their sexuality down my throat or who try to actively and aggressively get me to condone/accept/validate their sexual preference. It's a non-issue until someone brings it up, and there is NO reason for bringing it up, it's a private matter, keep it that way.

Be whatever you want to be, but 'be' it in the privacy of your own home. You don't need to air your business out in public, no one cares...that is until they try to shove it in our face and make it our business. At that point I WILL then tell them what I think...since it is they who insisted on bringing it up. Don't ask, don't tell and we'll get along just fine. I don't go to work and tell everyone the previous nights exploits with my wife, and I don't want to hear what they were doing with their gay lover/partner/whatever.
