This time it was the finish, actually this is the 2nd one I have seen this year... 19 days with this problem. There was rust developing on the bottom of the slide rails. This seems almost impossible since the slides are Stainless. The rust was bubleing thru the outer finish... really odd.

I'll keep ya posted.

Well... There's more to that...

I just finally got a replacement striker assembly in the mail from S&W this morning and it's of the newly redesigned type.

Man, this thing is A LOT more robust than the older ones, and it's cast not MIM now and it uses 1 spring retainer cup rather than the 2 of the older design, also the tang is J-shaped and seems to create WAY more more force upon release.

I really don't see breaking this one under dry-firing, and I'll probably never see a light strike... Now it might blow out the back of the breech-face, but doubt this design will snap.

Seems S&W is getting the M&P where it needs to be durability-wise since broken strikers has really been one of the only widespread flaws.

Shot 200rds and dry fired it about 100+, so far it's done what it's supposed to.

What was wrong with the original. If you're gonna wear a thong, it should be robust. Plus, when wearing a thong, you always know where your ass crack is in case you need to scratch it.

Don't believe I'd said that tntnixon.....

Back on topic, Congrats CK1. Wonder If they'd send me a new one for my .45 even if it ain't broke?
