Glock or H&K?

Go try both, then decide. I've owned two Glocks, sold them both. They're fine guns, but I just don't care for them.

On the other hand, I'm thrilled with my HK P30. Three sizes of backstraps and side panels, feels like it was made for my hand. The DA/SA trigger takes getting used to, but I've come to like it as well.

Go shoot both, then decide.

You didn't like the trigger on your HK. That makes your statements subjective, the same as me liking mine is subjective.

I personally don't care much for glocks, so I'd say H&K.

That's why. I don't do that with any other pistol. My Glock's had the 3.5 Ghost triggers installed; still couldn't do that with them. For me, function and performance of the HK is unmatched.

Gotta use real plates when cooking guns in the microwave or you'll burn through those styrofoam plates everytime!

Comparing H&K to glocks is a little like comparing apples to oranges. I own a H&K tactical and two glocks....32 and 33. I will tell you that the HK trigger is smoother, the lockup tighter and it is a true double action. So the question is why do I carry a glock? The Glock offers simplicity and immediate reaction. I trust the simple safety on the Glock and I am not required to perform any action other than to point and shoot. If you want plain simplicity, then the Glock is the answer. If you want more but are willing to accept increased complexity, then HK is a good option.

There is no right or wrong answer to the OP,if you are takin a poll I'm all for HK. If money is an issue please do yourself a favor and shoot both befor you buy. My everyday is a P2000SK v3 SA/DA W/ Decock.It's compact enough I carry it IWB in a cheap size 6 blackhawk and have forgot I had it.

I have the P30 v3 9MM and it feels alot like my HK .45 v1 both are a great fit.I have had a USP .45 fullsize for about 10 or 11 years that is as mentioned " A BRICK " but,it is still a great shooter.Thousands or rounds through it with out a problem.

I own an HK Tactical and two Glocks...32 and 33. No question in my mind that the HK has a smoother trigger and true double action. I know that the tactical is not a carry gun but I assume the current USP is similar. The gun I rely upon and intend to carry when the HCP gets here is the 32. Simple, predictable and reliable. Not as pretty but draw and shoot. No additional safties or considerations.

There are no other safeties on a variants 3, 4, 7, 8 or LEM. Variants 7, 8 and LEM are DAO. To prevent AD, you just don't allow the trigger to be pulled until ready to fire. I have only shot the LEM, so I don't have any experience with the other variants. It has a long trigger pull on the first shot with a short reset for subsequent shots.

Here are the different USPc variants:

Variants 1 and 2 (double action/single action, decocking and safety lever)

Variants 1 (lever on left) and 2 (lever on right) allow the user to carry the pistol in a single-action mode (cocked and locked) with the manual safety engaged. This same pistol, without modification, can be carried in double-action mode, with or without the manual safety engaged, and with the benefit of a decocking lever.

Variants 3 and 4 (double action/single action, decocking lever, but no safety)

Variants 3 (lever on left) and 4 (lever on right) provide the user with a frame-mounted decocking lever that does not have the "safe" position. This combination only allows the hammer to be lowered from SA position to DA position. It does not provide the "safe" position to prevent the pistol from firing when the trigger is pulled.

Variants 5 and 6 (double action only, with safety lever)

For the double action only user, variants 5 (lever on left), 6 (lever on right), and of the USP operate as double action only pistols with a bobbed hammer always returning to the DA position (forward) after each shot is fired. To fire each shot, the trigger must be pulled through the smooth DA trigger pull. Variants 5 and 6 have a manual safety lever.

Variants 7 and 8 (double action only, no control lever)

No control lever is provided on variant 7. Variant 8 is similar to variant 7.

Variants 9 and 10 (double action/single action, safety lever, but no decocking)

Variants 9 (lever on left) and 10 (lever on right) allow the shooter to carry the pistol in a single-action mode (cocked and locked) with the manual safety engaged. This same pistol, without modification, can be carried in double-action mode (hammer down), with or without the manual safety engaged. The double action mode offers a second strike/double action capability in case of a misfire. The control lever has no decocking function on variants 9 and 10 so one would have to carefully lower the hammer manually.

LEM (Law Enforcement Modification)

TriggerDeveloped especially for the U.S. government, the Law Enforcement Modification (or LEM for short), is a USP DAO (Double-Action Only) model with a unique trigger mechanism. This mechanism improves the double action trigger performance and reduces the weight of the DAO trigger pull to 7.5-8.5 pounds, utilizes a stronger hammer spring, and shortens the trigger reset. Aside from the LEM mechanism, it is identical to the USP Variant 7 (DAO) model.

The fact is that both the Glock and the HK are great things.

Shot one HK; a full size 45 ACP...Great big, shoots straight, deadly as a drug store.

That being said, i carry a Glock 33. Little bitty, ugly, easy to operate, shoots straight, deadly as a drug store.

They are both great things. Buy the one you like.

Personally, I don't care what gets said on here as long as everyone plays by the same rules. As soon as I can tell a mod/admin to stow his attitude with no fallout, I'll quit being a phallus. Past that, I have a feeling (which I will own as my own) that a lot of things are said here by others that would never fly in real life. I've always felt that forums were meant to bridge geographic gaps and not be cover and concealment for beta-males.

I didn't demean anyone. I said his statement was stupid. I didn't say he was stupid, although I do have questions about anyone's capacity for rational thought when they make a statement as stupid as that one was. But that's beside the point.

If a person can't stand having their stupid comments called out, then they shouldn't make stupid comments in the first place. Or at least not on a forum where people are marginally expected to back up their stupid comments with some sort of supporting evidence other than "HK's cost more money".

Seriously, that's like saying wine sucks because it's more expensive than beer. File it under "DUH" and move on to a real argument if you're going to make one, right?

And while I'm on a rant, I'm getting kind of tired of the silly +1 replies to threads. Of all the internet memes that bug me, that one probably bugs me the most. I think we need a Facebook-esque feature to denote that you like a comment rather than have silly +1 responses.

Can I make a -1 reply? Because that comment about Glocks being superior based on price alone gets a big ass -1 from me.

I dont want to argue with you...after all it is your forum and what you say goes. I like this website but as a professional business person, a business owner that exhibits similar behavior in the real world, wouldn't have many customers. I find great advice on this website and good conversations from Oldology to OhShoot...some really great guys to follow. In a leadership / admin position I think a person needs some restraint and thoughtfulness as to how statements are interpreted on the other end.

Again, nice website and forum area. Just keep in mind that due to your position your comments will either be taken extremely positive or extremely negative.... in that position there is no middle ground on perception management. Keep up the good work!
