Second Amendment March in Tennessee!!

Hi all,

Let me introduce myself briefly in case you haven't met me. I'm from East TN (Blount County). I'm now going to college in Nashville at Vanderbilt, and I cheer for the Vols. Got my HCP about a year and a half ago, but TN law tells me I can't carry on campus. :poop:

I got interested in Second Amendment March last year and decided to volunteer. I'm the college coordinator for the SAM, and mostly I'm working with SCCC (concealedcampus.org) to get college students pumped for the national and state marches.

There is already a thread about the national march above; it is a sticky (thanks to volzfan for updating it!) The Tennessee coordinator is Tom Harvey. I don't believe he's on this forum, so I'll let you know what's going on on the state level. I just talked with him earlier today.

The date of the Tennessee state march has not yet been set, but it will not be on the same weekend of the national march in DC (which is April 19), so you can go to one or both. My best guess: our state march will be in late March or early April. The TN march will be in Nashville, and we are working on getting speaker(s) for that event. As soon as I know final details, I will post them here!

Like I said, Tom Harvey is in charge of the TN state march, but if you want to post your comments/suggestions/questions here or PM them to me, I'll relay them to him. Or you can just email him directly at theharv@charterinternet.com.

The website is Second Amendment March. We have a lot of great speakers coming to the national march (see D.C. Itinerary | Second Amendment March), including Larry Pratt (GOA), Sheriff Richard Mack, Michael Bane (host of the show Shooting Gallery on the Outdoor Channel), and our very own Nikki Goeser!! :)

Let's make the D.C. and Nashville marches count so our reps know we mean business about not only stopping the passage of more anti-freedom laws but also REPEALING gun control. I don't know about you, but I don't think there's a good reason why a semi-auto sear costs $10 and a full-auto sear costs $10,000. I also don't see a good reason why women at my school can't carry a handgun to protect themselves from rapists (you'd better believe rape happens here) or why I can't carry my revolver to protect myself from the next Seung-hui Cho.

Thanks fellas, I know about the sticky. I was making this thread specifically about the state-level march in Nashville. But I got a little long-winded. Sorry 'bout that.

Here's the most important stuff:

Our state-level march will be in Nashville on a different day than the one in D.C.

We don't yet have a date for the Nashville march. Probably late March or early April.

We are working on speaker(s).

We are taking suggestions on dates/speakers.

Thanks.

Hokay, let me revive this thread from its 2.5-month coma...

I found out yesterday that the gent who was in charge of organizing the TN state march is having some health difficulties. So if we are going to have a state march in Nashville outside the Capitol, it's going to be up to me to organize it.

The national march is on April 19th in D.C. (see sticky), but we can do ours anytime... closer to that date would be ideal, though. Preferably on a day a lot of state legislators will be present.

So let me take it to you...

If I can get some quality speakers to provide some oratory at this shindig, are you in?!?

If at all possible I would be there.

Have you thought of a location? If not I might suggestion the Bicentennial Mall. Since it is a state park carry is legal their and it is close to the capital, where carry is illegal.

Do you have enough time at this late date to get something together? What about the funds to get it done? Did Mr. Harvey have any sponsors lined up?

Fallguy: Good thought. I will definitely look into Bicentennial Mall.

Volzfan: As far as the date, we can do it whenever, but we need to do it before the end of the legislative year so that the legislators will be around.

Funds? I will look into renting a sound setup and taking care of any other basic costs. It's gonna be a pretty low-budget operation, though.

No sponsors yet... if any TGO sponsors reading this want to jump on board, you are more than welcome to do so. Just PM me.

Anyone have suggestions on speakers or on a certain date for the rally? I know we have some Tennessee folks that are famous in 2A circles....

And if anybody wants to help plan it, just PM me, I'll be thankful for whatever help I can get.

NRA Representative for TN

TGO David

Steve Gill

Sen Ben West, Jr

Now, if you could get Mae West in original form, that might be something!
