Sigs don't have a safety either and don't get even near the bad rap Glocks do.

The only real safety is between your ears.

To the OP, how'd the mag release feel? I'm more worried the reversable mag release could be a failure point than excited for the changeable backstraps...

Maybe because the Sig's DA pull is about 12 lbs?

I didn't notice the mag release feeling any different when I was holding the pistol.

If ya want a thumb safety buy something else !!!
;)

Why should I have to? It's kind of like if car maker A offered an option that B didn't, and I bought the car I didn't (really) want, (car A) just because that option was considered a necessity by me. Should maker B care?

He'd better! Because he just lost a multi-thousand (with a gun, multi-hundred) dollar sale, that could have easily been made, otherwise. :)

CK1:

If you want a safety on a Glock you can get a "Siderlock", not my cup of tea but I've handled guns with them and they're a solid add on if you must have it.

Thanks, CK1-

I knew about this, but it's a good reminder....that being said, I still think Glock should offer a 'normal' (1911/M&P) style (factory) safety option.

I did say option....option....option....option...only!

Why does every thread about Glocks have to end up with a debate about the merits of an external safety v/s no external safety? :D

Some of us just want to hear about updates to the ergonomics or performance of the gun. Or in my case, some of just want to know when new 26's will be available and the price etc... :D

On the plus side, Glock threads are now 40% less likely to include caps-lock abuse and redundant exclamation points.:D

Regarding my original post regarding extra safeties and the potential legal implications were they to be added by the factory, I'm not surprised at all that the Glockers could find counter-examples and disprove my argument. I was wrong on some points, but due to the wisdom of TGO members, I now know better. I dig learning, so thanks for all your input.

I'm sure they'll take your opinion under consideration.

I'm not under any illusions about that happening-I've been saying this, since the 80's. :)
