Well................if this is it, it's not an exciting, sexy choice BUT Cut is a man of principle and would never screw over Tennessee like Kiffin did.

He's a reasonable, steady pick. And, he will bring DISCIPLINE to this ball team - which was my primary fault with Fulmer.

Very, very well stated, Sir . . .

whoever it is better know (or learn) these, and not be ashamed or reluctant about them........like pretty boy Kiffin (allegedly) was:

General Neyland's 7 Maxims

1. The team that makes the fewest mistakes will win.

2. Play for and make the breaks and when one comes your way - SCORE.

3. If at first the game - or the breaks - go against you, don't let up... put on more steam.

4. Protect our kickers, our QB, our lead and our ball game.

5. Ball, oskie, cover, block, cut and slice, pursue and gang tackle... for this is the WINNING EDGE.

6. Press the kicking game. Here is where the breaks are made.

7. Carry the fight to our opponent and keep it there for 60 minutes.

I could go on with this I am sure.

So someone explain how Cutcliffe is better than Kiffen?

Seriously, why is it so bad Kiffen quit, but ok to raid another teams coach and screw their players over.

It's not just that he left after one year, after selling a bill of goods to a bunch of kids about what he was building, etc. etc.

It's how he apparently pissed on many long held Tennessee football traditions and wouldn't (not couldn't) embrace the nuances and values of the people signing his paycheck.

It's how, after it became known that he was leaving, he held a sixty-some odd second "press conference" (didn't even bother to sit down) and then refused to take questions. He repeatedly referred to his fourteen months as if he'd been in a POW camp or something.

It's how his subordinate crony Orgeron used UT phones from a UT office to contact UT commitments to tell them not to step foot in a classroom the next day so they could still transfer to USC.

He could have had a much classier departure. It was up to him.

Yes Sir . . . the next coach better understand and RESPECT Tennessee traditions!

And it bothers the HELL out of me that Kiffin did not, he pushed USC, and Mike Hamilton most certainly knew it, AND DID NOTHING!

Sorry about that . . . when I read about Kiffin not leading the team in the maxims and replacing TN memorabilia with USC I kinda lost it

I understand. No problem, I still dont think cut is the right fit for the job. To bad brian kelly went to notre dame. Oh hell I hope we dont hire charlie weiss. That would definitely be a disaster.

Didn't Cutcliffe give away the playbook to another school during his tenure?

Volnation is talking about the OC for Dallas Cowboys...Jason Garret.

Also Zimmer at Cinci, is that bengals or university?

I don't think it makes the UT Ad any better or more classy than Kiffen was, for even asking. They have already been turned down twice and maybe a 3rd time but I think Cutcliff is lying and will make it to UT soon.

I wasn't born a Gators fan I was made one by the actions of the UT atheletic department over the years.

Yes he did. He carried the book with him (Kinko's and faxing were involved) to Ole Miss, leaving immediately after the 1998 regular season, weeks before we went on to the National Championship.

The Vol Nation does not forget. LOL

I have no problems with him now, if he can put the program back where it belongs, then so be it.

Brian Kelly please leave notre dame

Zimmer just signed a new deal as DC for the Bengals yesterday.

Kelly leave ND, thats the best post on this thread. Like he did not turn the UT job down last time around.

Big Poppa I did not quote you earlier response, but good reasoning there.
