HCP Class- Soddy Daisy - GOOD Results

After researching the Chattanooga area possibilities for HCP classes, I sent my wife, daughter, son-in-law, and his brother & father to Dodds & Assoociates Training in Soddy Daisy/Sale Creek.

Civilian, Police, Military Firearms Training - Dodd and Associates Firearms Training

They were all experienced shooters. My girls were treated with respect, something female shooters don't always get. The class was well run and even though they were all shooters they all said that they had learned new things.

The only problem was shooting at 15 degree weather, something I'm sure I'll hear about for years to come. Ron Dodd did a good job and I would recommend his classes to others, especially women who don't want to be talked down to.

I have looked into his classes however, I feel I can get as good if not better elsewhere for alot cheaper.

That may be so, but everywhere I called was $75, same as Dodd. It's also what I paid 5 years ago at Sportsman Supply.

I must have looked at his other classes wrong some where 300 dollars or maybe I was smokin crack.

My dad is looking into going to dod and associates to get his hcp so he can start carrying his public defender. The only reason he is planning on doing it there is because the one here in dayton is full.

Look at his website more closely, the classes are price competitive.

I think I paid $75 for the state HCP required class. The class, like all HCP classes, is designed to meet state requirements, and is not a class designed to make you proficient at using a handgun for defensive means. He tells you this up front. Some of my classmates handled a handgun like they weren't exactly sure where the bullet comes out. Mr. Dodd covered the basics that "experts" take for granted. I hope other HCP classes are as good with beginners as this class was. (and if I see that guy who was staring down the barrel of the glock he was holding on the street, I am running away)

That being said, Mr. Dodd advised and coached each student on the range. He gave me a tactical "tip", to make sure that I would start practicing a behavior that might give me a faster reload under stress. Semi-auto shooters are taught how to handle a jam. He's a avid handgun sport competitor, so you have that working for you. Some of the other students were offered tips from basic to advanced.

As for the tactical classes, I would gladly pay $300 for the defensive shotgun course or the handgun course. What good is a tool that you are not trained to use? You make the investment in guns ect, why not have the training to apply them decisively? Watch his shotgun video - I'm sold.

He has a modern, well lit, indoor classroom and a outdoor range setup that is efficient and safe. Pack a tasty lunch, get your ticket punched, and get some fresh air.

My father is already very proficient with a gun. He used to be an NRA firearms instructor as well as a firearms instructor for TVA. He had not shot a handgun since 1994 (colt detective special) so when he purchased the public defender he was able to shoot the bulls eye ragged at 25 yards consistantly. I was amazed. He shoots alot better than me LOL. I know phantom6 classes for hcp are a little high but he includes the NRA basic pistol practicum in there with them for people that maybe have never held or shot a gun before. So that is why his classes cost more.

Phantom6 only charges 175 dollars for personal protection inside the home course for pistols. I think that is reasonable.
