Laser bore sighter

Has anyone used an "in the end" laser bore sighter? I have seen a number that use O rings to fit from 22 to 50 cal. and cost approx $38.00. Do they work or are they a waste of money?

I've used one to get my .30-06's scope "on the paper" and then proceeded to dial it in the old fashioned way from there. Really, that's all the manufacturers recommend that you use it for anyway. Just to get it on paper at a certain range so that you can save your ammo for tweaking it.

I have used one the same as tungsten said, to get on paper. I have had great success with mine and it has saved me a few bucks in ammo getting my scopes set on my long guns. I would recommend one to anyone who needs to set or check their scopes.

The question is, would $38 buy you enough ammo to help sight in your guns or not?

It's not impossible to bore-sight a rifle without a laser, either... just remove the bolt, secure the rifle in an adjustable rest, look through the bore at the target and adjust the rifle until it is centered, then adjust your sight/scope to the center of the target... do that, and you'll be on-paper.

I have had good luck when sighting my AR with a boresighter. Always try to borrow one rather than fork up the cash for something you only use 1-5 times tops.

I have a Leupold magnetic bore sighter. I've used it a bunch, not only for getting scopes on paper, but for swapping scopes. I have a bunch of scoped rifles, so it was worth it to me.
