Recently completed my build. It's shooting great. I tried to do it as economically as possible, but it still gets expensive, don't it?

Can't wait to start my next... :o

They seem good to me. Surprisingly sturdy, and they've gone up and down several times and seem to be holding just fine. I haven't really used a bunch of other backup sights, so I don't have much to compare them to. But they seem to be a great deal.

:o:up:

Disclaimer: I didn't buy the parts that I bought because they were "the best", but just because they were the perfect balance between what I wanted and the money I had. I've never added up the cost, since I built it over more than a year. But here goes....

DPMS stripped lower (bought pre-Obama for something like $149)

DPMS lower parts kit ($80)

CAA stock/receiver extension tube/spring/etc ($90)

Some pistol grip other than the DPMS LPK one ($20)

CMMG carbine upper ($500)

The upper came with a low-profile gas block and no front sight, so I always had the intent of replacing the handguards with a free-float rail. Not the most economic decision, since you could buy an upper with the rails for cheaper than what I did. But hey, Obama was about to be elected so I had to buy what I could find. :tough:

Yankee Hill specter length free float rail ($200-ish)

Magpul backup sights ($80)

Eotech XPS2 ($500)

Phantom flash suppressor ($20)

Some off-brand vertical grip ($20)

Some off-brand flashlight with the tape-switch thing ($40)

PMAG magazine ($20)

Ladder rail covers ($10)

The experience of building my own, custom AR-15 (Priceless)

I don't really want to add it up. Too expensive, plus my wife might look over the numbers, but she probably won't add it up either. :P
