Anschutz model 54

Picked up an Anschutz 54 single shot .22 today for far less than what I see others go for online at the gun show. Did I get rooked? It's not in first class shape but I haggled a bit. I'll post pictures here in a second.

When I google it I only see anschutzs with mag fed actions and on really fancy stocks.

Apparently it's a military trainer?

You got your a** burnt real bad, but because I'm the nice guy I am I will gladly reimburse your money and take the rifle just to make you feel better. :D

Haha...I just ran a Super Colibri through it to test the trigger. Butter-smooth. The heft the rifle is great! It feels like a center fire rifle, like a K98 or something. Can't wait to try it at the range tomorrow. I'll try to put the adjustable sights to work.

I benchshoot and the model 54 reciever is the platform most shooters use to build their custom rifles. If you do decide to sell it give me a holler I would be interested.

Cool. Any particular reason why the 54 receiver is so good?

Wow, well you sure went high on the hog since our discussion yesterday!

Congrats.

I really don't know why but I've seen some real good shooters built on the 54 reciever.

I have a single shot Savage in .22 and love to shoot it. Something about loading each round by hand is very calming.

Looks like a nice rifle. Congrat's!

Haha, yeah OhShoot, I've got to be more careful with my wallet at gun shows. Usually I'm able to resist, thinking I can find the same or better deal at a local gun shop like G&L, but this one was too rare and I was basically rutting for a .22. And calibrated sights...I've always wanted a .22 rifle with an adjustable calibrated military-style sight.

I did a little research and posted on RFC, and apparently, this is a fairly rare 1956 or so military trainer that the German Bundeswehr commissioned. 3000 made, apparently. So that's pretty cool, and probably the reason why this feels like a K98 in the hand. Hard to tell if I underpaid or overpaid, only time will tell really.

Thanks for the comments guys. If you see some dork putting rounds downrange with a semi-defiled Anschutz at Hobson Pike or G&L, feel free to tap me on the shoulder to give the 54 a whirl.
