LaserMax in the guide rod??

Kindly define "a lot", 'cause Phil's example is the first one I've heard of in over a dozen years.

Have heard of and seen more than a few examples of plastic guide rods shredding, eroding, or otherwise breaking though... especially in Glock's early years.

Again, just in case you missed it, the point is that an aftermarket part is not necessarily inferior to the factory-issue one.

Well, mine didn't break. The battery cover poped off which seized the slide on my XD.

They ended up having to replace it, and my XD.

No doubt due to your installing the cover improperly... :P

Again, I said an aftermarket part is not necessarily inferior to the factory-issue one. Occasionally they are, or an individual specimen is, since I doubt there's any such thing as a perfect run by any manufacturer of anything.

P.S. The funny thing here is that I'm arguing for something I don't even like; I think lasers are novelties that are best left off of "working" guns. I believe a person should learn to shoot well enough to know where the shot is going to end up without having a little red spot show them the way.

I've got one in a Glock 22 as well, and like mentioned above the main issue I've had is the holster turning it on and running the batteries down. That's really only happened once so far though, so it's not that big of a deal. Other than that, I love it, but I purchased this handgun with the Lasermax already in it. In reality I don't use it enough to know whether I could justify the cost though, but if I had already decided to get one this would be the way I would go.

A buddy of mine has one on his G19 which we shoot pretty regularly. Probably just rehashing what's already been said, but we pretty much agreed that while it is fun, the product doesn't really justify the costs. If you can get a good deal on one then by all means, but I don't think they're worth what they cost new from a dealer. And, if I were to get a laser I'd want one like that grip guard or a crimson trace that activates when I draw the gun rather than a button I have to manually activate.

I think one on a home defense *bump in the night* gun might be cool though. If a perp is ever going to notice a red dot on his chest then it'll probably been in the dark.
