Hey all- I stopped by the TWRA Range @ Hobson Pike at around 10:30 am, and the gate was locked w/ out a car in the lot. Does anyone know if they plan on opening up? I am itching to sight in a new scope...

Just called their info line listed on the twra site...supposedly they are reopening today after a long xmas break. The message said they will be operating on "normal winter hours" but I couldn't find out what those were.

Maybe they're closed today because of the dusting of snow we got?

Yeah, probably figure it was just too darned cold.

I was looking forward to giving my weapons a proper run through in the cold. That's exactly when they do need to be open!

No answer at the office number...

Just talked to an actual human on the line. He said he was told that the range would reopen on Sunday. If anyone finds differently, please report back.

Maybe I'll head to Owl Hollow tomorrow. What time does it usually open?

I think Owl hollow is closed this weekend, since its the 1st full weekend of the month

This would be the 2nd full weekend of the month would it not? The last weekend was the 2nd and 3rd.

I'm an RSO at Hobson Pike and I received an e-mail that the range would be open Sat & Sunday if enough RSO's showed to run the lines. I plan on being there after 1:30 tomorrow. I expect other hardwired RSO's will be there too.

Very cool.

By the way, thanks for being a RSO. You guys do a top notch job of keeping that range safe and running efficiently.

I called TWRA @ Hobson Pike today, and Danny answerd the phone and said they were closing down due to weather, and most likely will open again next Friday-----BOOOOO------but I do know that the RSO's volunteer, and the roads are not the best for driving today.

I was there about Noon. It was very cold and not enough RSO's on hand to run the lines. Also there was concern about customers falling on the slick walks. Sorry guys, the TWRA makes those decisions in your best interests.
