I'm old enough to remember that old Dino was probably just as lit as Foster Brooks. :panic:

Dino more than likely was drunk when this was filmed, and Brooks was sober as a judge.

I was just thinking about the Dean Martin show just the other day. Reminiscing more like it. Like with Tom Snyder and Rod Serling, you rarely saw them on screen without a cigarette burning.

Crap - I can remember watching those in the days of live TV. I'm thinking most of those guys are dead now. Damn...

Oh yeah . . . I lived for Thursday nights to see ole Dino and all the guests on his show. And the later "roasts" were just as good.

I don't want to squash your thoughts on "The king of cool", but onstage he usually drank apple juice and went home shortly after the shows. Especially around the Rat Pack. He prefered to go home to his family and liked westerns. This is widely known.

Side note: The Pack didn't do shows that wouldn't allow Davis, Jr. They fought for black musicians and Jews (Davis). They were cool cats.

I'm just old enough to remember rolling around on the floor, crying b/c I was laughing so hard at those guys (miss Hope, Berle, etc, too). There's very few current comedians who are in the same class.....honestly....:P

You are correct sir! When Frank Sinatra wanted to go out on the town in Vegas after the show, he would often get irritated with Dean because he wanted to go back to the room and watch TV.

On the other hand, ole Frank did NOT drink apple juice . . .

Friday (New Years Day) there was an infomercial on NBC that was all about this show, a DVD set and what not, they had all sorts of former guests talking about how much fun they have...Dom Delouise, Goldy Hawn, etc..

I was laughing like crazy watching just that.

Yep, he drank LOTS of not apple juice. That is certain.

As a kid, Red Skelton was great, but Tim Conway and Harvey Korman would always bust me up on the Carol Burnett Show.

I used to laugh...hysterically... at them cracking each other up. Don't even remember the skits!
