A cute little feller

He was there, huddled in the corner, at the Rabbi's store. The little guy looked afraid of the bigger beasts around him. I couldn't resist, he needed a good home.

Being a bit small, for a mouse gun, the little guy is an Italian pedigree, a Beretta 21A Bobcat .22lr. At the range, it performed better than I expected, grouped well out to 15 ft, able to keep it in the COM out to 21 ft. There were several FTE's with both Aguila and Remington rounds, but I had some minimags left and it shot and cycled all of them fine. Back at home, I checked around the net and found what I suspected, the 21A needs hotter rounds to really cycle the tip up system. I'll get back to the range soon and try a whole box of hotties, minimags or stingers, whatever hot that's available (just like my youth).

A short barrel, .22lr, as I understand, is not really a defensive weapon, but more of a "surprise" piece. The Rabbi said he'd heard the Mossad used such a gun in covert ops, I'm sure as a "surprise."

I might carry it as a back up, or maybe a back up to my back up. Even if I never carry it, it sure is a cute little feller. The gun's well built and feels great in my hands. I like the "tip up" system, but it has the inherent flaw of being without an extractor (after an FTF and some FTE's , I had to tip up the barrel and remove the cartridge by hand.) Again, I expect much better performance with hot stuff.

I never imagined I'd get a .22lr mouse, but this little guy's a lot of fun.

No, send me your Xmas list instead.:stare:

Glad you are enjoying the gun Doc. In my experience .22 auto pistols are very sensitive to ammo. Some of them wont cycle worth a darn with some ammo and will do fine with others.

The Beretta has been in production for a very long time. I think James Bond carried the .25 Bantam in one movie. Same movie where he shot people with it and they crumpled to the floor....

HAHA you know what I want, M&P compact, in either a 40 or 9mm, used, scratched, hell I am not picky, as long as it works!

but anything compact (3.5"barrel), and reliable 9mm or above works too....(Ive been looking at the Taurus Mill-Pro, and kel-tec pf9)

Boom has the "extra money" kinda hoping he would adopt me for the season :).

Oh Boom, in case your thinking about it, a dude on M&P forum has one:

300 rounds through it without any problems. 2ea 12 round mags. Carried in a Desantis pocket holster for about a week so there is a hint of a shiny spot on the left side slide release. No lock but does have the mag safety.

$400.00 delivered to your FFL within CONUS or FTF trade with TN resident for .38 / .357 steel no IL J frame.

hehehehhee

Canynracer, I just bought my son an M&P 9C for his 21st birthday that's coming up. I wouldn't want to make him feel bad, or spoil your Christmas with commercialism, so for you, I'll give all my best hopes and wishes.

Rabbi, thanks for the tip. I'll try a lot of different ammo in the little beast. And thanks for helping relieve me of all that burdensome money.

(Actually I'm usually too broke to pay attention, but I put a bit away in my GAS envelope every now and then :) )

Doc, you don't need all that money anyway. And if it hangs around you'll just blow it on luxuries like groceries and clothing instead of spending it on necessities like guns. And if push comes to shove you can always sell the gun and get money. Try doing that with a 3-pack of Hanes underwear, slightly used.

yah..it was usually a suprise..usually 3 or 4 agents would get close then unload a 10 round magazine into the target...turn them into a collander.

it just goes to show you..ANY firearm can be immediately lethal if you use the right tactics.

glad you like your new piece!:(
