Including Chris Dodd!

FOXNews.com - 3 Democrats Drop Plans to Seek Re-election

WASHINGTON - With the 2010 election year barely under way, two senators and one governor -- all Democrats -- ditched plans to run for re-election in the latest signs of trouble for President Barack Obama's party.

Taken together, the decisions by Senators Chris Dodd of Connecticut and Byron Dorgan of North Dakota as well as Colorado Governor Bill Ritter caused another bout of heartburn for Democrats as they struggle to defend themselves in a sour political environment for incumbents, particularly the party in charge.

As 2009 ended, Democrats watched a string of their House members announce retirements and one congressman defect to the GOP.

Democrats, who have a 60-40 Senate majority that includes two independents who vote with them, now will have to defend four open seats in the Senate. The others are Delaware and Illinois, where Senators Ted Kaufman, who replaced Vice President Joe Biden, and Roland Burris, who replaced Obama, aren't running for full terms.

Republicans, for their part, are defending six open seats, in Ohio, Florida, Missouri, New Hampshire, Kentucky and Kansas.

Among governors, Democrats are seeking to maintain their 26-24 majority in a year when those elected will oversee the redrawing of congressional and legislative districts for the next decade.

Republicans and Democrats alike say they now expect competitive races for the Senate seat in North Dakota, a GOP-tilting state, and the governor's seat in Colorado, a pivotal swing state that has trended toward Democrats in recent years but may be shifting back toward Republicans.

See the rest of the story at the above link.

Nah, Chris Dodd is going to be Prime Minister after Obama declares himself King later this year. Who needs a Senate?

Don't take this the wrong way because I want Chris Dodd gone. I wish he would run for reelection. I think he would be beat but would a new liberal without Dodd's history? A liberal newcomer might win. Could this be the plan?

Could this be the plan?

Who know's what they're pulling.

A handful of young so-called "progressives" for the youth to attach their votes to? Maybe.

Or maybe their just guys who know a sinking ship when they see one...

They saw what the main stream media couldn't cover up. I'd say

most who vote for the Health Care(Soyulent Green)Bill will be at risk for re-election.

I have been wondering this for days.

Maybe they have 'emergency appointments' planned under a situation of "a really good crisis"?

Not being tin-foil here, just saying that it is one scenario that is a possibility.

I’m certainly not a Democrat, but the smart Democrats (is there such a thing? :hijack:) shouldn’t be quitting and need to be fighting this guy unless they want to see the Democratic Party turn into the Socialist party.

And now they have nothing to lose since they aren't going to be running, so they can try and ram through whatever legislation they want.

That is for sure. There is no telling what we may see this year.

No way Dodd would leave if he could win. Its the power and what it brings MONEY. Obama will find a place for him. I am glad he is leaving, too bad its not to serve time somewhere.

Hope and change we can count on!

I'd say there's about a 60% chance there won't be an election - Der Fuehrer has something up his sleeve!

That's exactly his plan. Connecticut is a basically liberal state but even they are sick of Dodd. A different Dem, will almost certainly hold the seat.

I'm sure that's the hope of the DNC but remember, newcomers don't have the power of the oldtimers. No choice chairmanships, no arm twisting abilities, they go to square one.

Refresh the tree of liberty with the blood of tyrants (politically, not physically) at each election and coruption loses its strength.

Remove the targets. Dodd is tainted, and in a heads up race will lose, so they pull him, do a Tanner and give him a posh appointment in return for faithful service and put up a more "concervative" Dem candidate and keep the seat for the party.

Never forget, Obama is a master politician.

Don't forget about Obama's 'stash'. He still has hundreds of BILLIONS of unaccounted for TARP money that I'm sure he thinks he's going to be using for 2010 and 2012 elections. Count on it. And ACORN still isn't dead yet.

PLEASE! Let us not do like in the movies and start celebrating too soon before all of the bad guys are taken care of and then we get killed at the end. The time to celebrate is AFTER it's a done deal and we have it locked up, people sworn in and in the actual office. The liberal scum will fight it all the way to the end and get their scum lawyers and judges to help them out if need be. Remember Al Franken anyone?

They definitely are making a political move by announcing these retirements. They are getting incumbents who aren't likely to be reelected out...in their hopes, early enough for the bad press on the congressional agenda to not taint a new candidate.

Who knows, maybe the Repubs or some of the 3rd party movements can get to these new candidates early with the intention of having them switch sides after the election? There certainly would be precedent...and as far as the Senate candidates are concerned, they will have to go through at least two more congressional elections and might see which way the wind is blowing.

I keep trying to provoke a response but I get no bites.

Do I need to change my lure or the presentation? How about adding a scent? You can't see the braided line, can you?

I don't see there being a serious threat from Obama to the election process...sure he has all the makings of a leftist elitist dictator, but the American people are vocal enough and *hopefully* armed enough that if he attempted something like this there would be a new Whiskey Rebellion....and Obama is no George Washington.
