XD9 sub compact Issue

I just picked up an XD9 sc to use as a carry weapon mainly because of its size and magazine capacity however with the magazine fully loaded it is almost impossible to eject it. The force needed to push in the release button is extreme. Wondering if any one else has had this issue and if so how was it resolved? One other question looking for suggestions on a good carry holster from those who own this gun. Thanks.

I had a similar issue with a PT145 - after 100 or so rounds through the magazine, the problem went away.

I can't press the mag release button on my XD9 SC with one hand, it's just too hard to press in, both with my thumb or my forefinger. I thought maybe I was just a weakling, but I'll have to try it without a fully loaded mag.

As for a holster, I purchased a Crossbreed Supertuck. It wasn't cheap, but it's very comfortable with good retention.

yes. when the mag is fully loaded you have all the pressure that it took you to get that last round in the mag pushing down on the mag release.

try pushing up on the mag to relieve a little of that pressure then push the mag release. it should make it a little easier.

Sounds like it is a common thing with this gun... thanks for the replies. I will play with it some today and see what works. Will also check out the Crossbreed holster... thanks for the info Garethsk.

Just tried the release on my onw xd9sc. As with some others, the release is a little hard. But I must say I really hadn't noticed it before or had it bother me. Could it be the power of suggestion? But I really can't say the release pressure needed is excessive or much different than that of other autoloaders I have. Not saying that it is not irritating to some of us with smaller hands; but I can't say it seems excessive.

I have about 400 rounds thru mine and the only issue is that the 10 round mag has a slight rattle when fully loaded. Drop to 9 rounds and no sound. I've taken the mag apart and can't see any obvious problems. It functions perfectly, just has that little rattle with a full load in it.

Both of my XD's and my XDm have this same "issue." I have just learned to push up on the mag with the palm of my left hand - as in when you are inserting it - while pressing the mag release. After you have had the gun a while, you will find that you like it so much that this one minor irritation becomes a non-issue.

Just tried it and that WORKS! Thanks guys... I knew you all would come through.... you made my day!

It will get easier over time. Mine has eased up, mine is not a SC, but it was a lot harder early on. With mags I don't use as often, it is harder to push in.

Call Springfield. I remember this problem and it seems like they shipped out new mags or new followers to remedy this.

Nope.

It's not an issue, just a characteristic.

Especially tight now that the flush mags hold 13 rounds instead of 10.

Just push up on mag as you press mag release.

How often you need to drop a full mag anyway?

Most important is that it releases well on an EMPTY mag, which it does.

A plus: mag doesn't rattle like some guns.

You must not have read what I quoted. I was replying to the guy saying that his 10 round mag rattled when full.

Correctamundo, skimmed thread too fast.

Mea culpa.
