New Ruger SR9 Compact

The SR9c compact pistol weighs in at 24 oz. and features an overall length of 6.875", a height of 5.00", and the same slim 1.27" grip width as the full-sized SR9. It comes with two magazines that provide options in both capacity and grip size. The standard magazine holds 10 rounds and features a flat bottom butt plate; a finger grip extension floor plate is also included. The second magazine features a grip adapter and holds 17 rounds, instantly transforming the smaller, compact grip into a full-sized 9mm grip. The 3.50" barreled pistol features an integral accessory rail that accommodates most lights and lasers.

The SR9c compact pistol utilizes the same adjustable, high-visibility 3-Dot sight system as its full-sized predecessor, setting it apart from many compact pistols that rely on fixed sights. New serrations are located on the front portion of the slide, making it easier to both manipulate the slide and to press check the chamber. The SR9c is available with a glass-filled nylon frame and through-hardened slide in either a brushed stainless or blackened finish. State compliant variations are available where necessary and ship with two 10-round magazines.

Just like the original, full-sized SR9, the SR9c is loaded with modern safety features like a 1911-style ambidextrous manual safety, internal trigger bar interlock and striker blocker, trigger safety, magazine disconnect, plus a visual and tactile loaded chamber indicator.

i think it looks pretty good and if i had the chance to put some rounds through it i would. but i dont understand what they mean by "glass-filled nylon frame".. not sure what that means if anyone can learn me that..

Oh, it's polymer with spun glass fiber as part of the construction (think fiberglass), lots of guns use this type frame material.

Overall, it's certainly nothing to turn the semi-auto world upside down or anything, but it looks to be a serviceable carry piece. Satisfies those who just must have a manual safety, two choice backstrap, and adjustable sight, for probably about $450 street, maybe less after a while.

It won't be a killer product like the LCP, but should do okay, probably about as well as the LCR, maybe better.

I really like this as a carry weapon. Ruger makes a good firearm, and this is one of the few carry options with a polymer frame that has a manual safety. This may need to make it into my collection.

I carry a p345, and I will be looking at one of these for sure. I will be interested to see what a true price will be on one.

Guess I'm just too old, started out on wheelguns, only safety needed... yer "bugger hooker", never had a problem. Had to learn to flip a safety on and off, at first it was kind of un-natural. Other things have always been more important to me in the decision of choosing a handgun

I'm very excited about this gun! I love Ruger products and really liked the SR9 when I handled it initially, but felt it to be a little too big to be a carry gun. Then not a month later, bam, this comes out. Maybe it's a sign?

Searched the Ruger website's find a retailer doodad and Guns&Leather, On Target, Academy, Franklin Gun, and some others listed as retailers. As G&L and On-Target are vendors on here...you guys have any idea when you're going to have some in store.

Shot a SR9 last week, i couldnt believe the low recoil it had, hope the SR9C is the same!

Just bought a Taurus PT698 Ti Pro, now i already wish i had waited.

It'll take some G26 sales. My hesitation would be the trigger. The SR9 I looked at had a trigger that made a Sigma feel like butter.
