A question about Stones River Range

I thought I saw somewhere that they don’t allow silhouette targets.

That’s all I have. Do they sell targets there or do I need to get some before I go?

they had some freebies last time I was there. Can't remember the design ,but they're just photocopied 8.5X11 sheets

I've been there several times and they've always had freebies. I could be wrong, but their target frames might be just a little small for sillouhettes, the wooden frames could get chewed up.

You can use them if you fold the head where it cant be seen.

Why in the world do they not allow silhouette targets?

[sarcasm] Is it because they don't want so offend someone? [/sarcasm]

The reason I was given was because shooting silhouettes was a little too politically incorrect. :)

You are kidding. That is asinine.

I was told several years ago that the range is a family-oriented range, and they don't want to offend anyone. So, being the smart-ass that I am, I had to ask:

"Since the name is Stone's River Hunter Education Center, and therefore geared mostly towards hunters, is it ok to shoot animal targets?"

"Yes, Sir, it is."

Hehehehe, chuckles I, with a devious plan in mind. One of these days, I'm going to print off some pictures of Disney's Bambi and use them for targets. :) And, I know it's not the fault of the guys who work there, at least not all of them. One of the range safeties is a big-time NFA guy, and actually officiates the Sub-Gun Walk at Knob Creek every 6 months.

I talked to him for a while one time. He was shooting an automatic 9mm AR-15.

I asked if I could have it and he said no :(

The next thing they'll ban is animal silhouettes, because they don't won't to scare the children.

No, but the ACLU and NAACP "guarantee" that one. :(

Why buy targets? copier paper in 8.5X11 or 8.5X17 along with a magic marker works very well for inexpensive targets. I like to draw smiley faces on them :)

It's the right piece of paper. :)Source
