I drove by a flag a few minutes ago and noticed it was at half mast and wondered who had died. As I got closer I realized it was also upside down. Just thought I'd post and see some reactions. I know a couple of guys have that as their avatar and just thought that this person is sending a strong message.

Interestingly to me, my kids original pedatrician lives next door to my in laws. We pulled in the other day and I noticed they had a Gadsden flag hung below the American flag on their pole.

Plenty of sites to find out the many rules about displaying a flag. I like the idea about the Gadsden.

Personally I find it extremely disrespectful to the flag to fly it upside down for your own personal issues or simply to make a statement, whatever it may be. I do like the Gadsden Flag though.

It's a call for help and could be done in a respectful way for number of reasons. It is also done in an effort to be disrespectful of the colors by some.

My father is retired from the USAF. I served in the US Army. I work for the Army as a civilian and am also in the Reserve. I work in the reserve center and we rotate who conducts revielle and retreat.

I am aware of a few of the rules of the proper use of the American flag.

I have a flag ready to go. To be mounted about 12-14 feet off the ground. But I have to run extra wiring to light it 24/7, as per the rules.

My brother-in-law has one hanging vertically in his sunroom with the stars on the upper right. I cringe everytime I see it.

My old one is hanging in my garage, left to right. I have a new one once football season is over to go up in place of the Titans one.
